Zydrunas Ilgauskas didn't care who was or wasn't wearing a 76ers' jersey.
Four years between victories over Philadelphia was long enough.
Ilgauskas scored 28 points and had a key putback, assist and
block in overtime as the Cavaliers snapped a 16-game losing streak
against the Sixers with a 91-88 win Saturday night.
The 7-foot-3 Ilgauskas added eight rebounds and a career-high
seven assists for the Cavs, who hadn't beaten the undermanned
Sixers since April 2, 1999, at Philadelphia.
"Every win is a good win for us," Ilgauskas said. "We only
won 17 games last year, so they're all big. That's a tough team to
beat."
Rookie LeBron James had 22 points, eight assists, five rebounds
and a huge block with 11 seconds left in overtime for the
Cavaliers, who won it with defense down the stretch.
With Cleveland clinging to 90-88 lead, James was caught by a
pick in the lane but raced across the floor and swatted away rookie
Kyle Korver's jumper from the baseline.
"They used (Allen) Iverson as a decoy," James said. "When
Korver got it, I knew he was going to shoot and I just had one of
my high school moments."
Korver then missed a 3-pointer with 5.5 seconds left, and Kevin
Ollie made one of two free throws for Cleveland. Philadelphia guard
Eric Snow's desperation heave at the horn was way off.
The Sixers played without their starting frontcourt for the
second straight game. Derrick Coleman, Glenn Robinson and Kenny
Thomas sat out with injuries.
Iverson, the NBA's leading scorer, matched a season-low with 19
points on 8-of-29 shooting. After leading the Sixers to a win over
the defending champion San Antonio Spurs on Friday, Iverson, who
was hounded by Ricky Davis, just didn't have it.
"If I have an off-night, I have an off-night," Iverson said.
"But I don't do my teammates any favors if I quit trying. You have
to keep fighting and hopefully something will happen at the end.
That's the way it nearly went."
Marc Jackson had 19 points and 15 rebounds for the Sixers, who
shot 34 percent. Snow was just 3-for-15 from the field.
Carlos Boozer, who had 15 points and 15 rebounds, opened the OT
with a jumper and then scored on a dunk off a nice inside feed from
Ilgauskas to put the Cavs up 88-84 with 2:47 left.
After John Salmons scored for Philly, the Cavs crashed the
boards with Ilgauskas finally following in a miss underneath to
make it 90-86.
Ilgauskas, who played the entire OT with five personal fouls,
then blocked Salmons' shot with 1:27 left.
"It was Z's night," Iverson said of Ilgauskas. "They ran
their offense through him. He shot well and caused us problems with
his passing, too."
Aaron McKie's two free throws pulled Philly to 90-88, but the
Cavs survived the comeback with some stifling defense -- a rarity
for them in the early season -- and just enough offense down the
stretch.
"This is a huge win for us," James said. "We didn't buckle
under pressure and we executed in overtime. That's a big, big step
for us."

The 1999 NBA season was the 53rd season of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Due to a lockout, the season did not start until February 5, 1999 after a new six-year Collective Bargaining Agreement was reached between the NBA and the National Basketball Players Association. All 29 teams played a shortened 50-game regular season schedule- 61% of the regular 82 games- and the 16 teams who qualified for the playoffs played a full post-season schedule. That season's All-Star Game was also canceled. The season ended with the San Antonio Spurs winning the franchise's first NBA championship, beating the New York Knicks 4 games to 1 in the 1999 NBA Finals.
The second lockout in the history of the NBA lasted from July 1, 1998 to January 20, 1999. NBA owners were seeking changes to the league's salary cap system and a ceiling on individual player salaries. The National Basketball Players Association opposed the owners' plans and wanted raises for players who earned the league's minimum salary.
As the labor dispute continued into September, the preseason was shortened to just two games instead of the normal eight, and training camps were postponed indefinitely.[1] By October, it became the first time in NBA history that games were canceled due to a labor dispute.[2] Further games were canceled by November and December, including the All-Star Game, which had been scheduled to be played on February 14, 1999. The preseason also got cancelled as well.
An agreement between the owners and players was eventually reached on January 18, 1999. When play resumed, the regular season was shortened to 50 games per team, as opposed to the normal 82. As a result, some teams did not meet each other at all during the course of the shortened season. In addition, to preserve games between teams in the same conference, much of the time missed was made up for by skipping well over half of the games played between teams in the opposite conference. 1998--99 was the first season following the departure of Michael Jordan before he returned to play for the Washington Wizards. The New York Knicks became only the second #8 seed to advance in the playoffs by defeating a #1 seed. As of 2013, they remain the only #8 seed to have advanced to the NBA Finals. The Los Angeles Lakers played their final season at the Great Western Forum. Due to the fact that the Great Western Bank ceased to exist two seasons prior, the arena name was replaced by the team name on center court, in anticipation of the move to the Staples Center. The Los Angeles Clippers played their final season at the Los Angeles Sports Arena. The Indiana Pacers played their final season at the Market Square Arena. The Denver Nuggets played their final season at the McNichols Sports Arena. The Miami Heat played their final season at the Miami Arena, although they still played the first two months of the following season at this arena before moving to the American Airlines Arena in January 2000. The Toronto Raptors played their first game in Air Canada Centre on February 21. The San Antonio Spurs became the first former ABA team to win a championship. (As of June 2012, they are still the only ABA franchise with a title; the Nets and Pacers have not won a title, and the Nuggets have never played an NBA Finals game.) The Atlanta Hawks played another season in the Georgia Dome while Philips Arena was constructed for the 1999--2000 season. This season would be the Hawks' last playoff appearance until the 2007--08 season. The Clippers tied the 1988-89 Miami Heat for the longest losing streak to start the season (17) from February 5 till March 11 when they defeated the Sacramento Kings. In December 2009, this record was broken by the New Jersey Nets who lost the first eighteen games of the season. Hall of Fame coach Red Holzman died on November 13, 1998 at age 78.

Spurs turned to -- who else? -- Tim Duncan.
Duncan scored a season-high 34 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to
lead the Spurs to their fifth straight victory, 88-80 over the
Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday night.
"It's almost like you take it for granted like David
(Robinson's) games used to be," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said.
"He just played a great all-around game. He really put it on his
shoulders, showed some great leadership and brought his team
around."
Allen Iverson scored 24, Kyle Korver had 17 and Corliss
Williamson added 15 for the Sixers, who set a dubious team record
by scoring just 6 points in the first quarter.
Rasho Nesterovic had 16 points and 11 rebounds and Manu Ginobili
scored 17 for San Antonio, which had lost four in a row in
Philadelphia since winning on Nov. 22, 1999. The Spurs improved to
7-1, their best start since the 1991-92 season.
"It was a great game for us," Duncan said. "We played pretty
good defense. They missed some shots and we gave ourselves a lead
there. They did a hell of a job coming back, but we fought straight
through."
The Sixers, who trailed by 14 in the first half, took their
first lead, 55-53, on a 3-pointer by Korver with 3:14 left in the
third. Philadelphia held the lead until the Spurs went on a 10-0
run early in the fourth quarter.
A 14-footer by Duncan gave San Antonio a 64-62 lead it never
relinquished. Ginobili's 3-pointer made it 67-62, and the Spurs
held on down the stretch.
A three-point play by Iverson cut it to 82-78 with 1:36 left,
but Duncan answered with a running, one-handed jumper from the
baseline.
"We didn't knock down shots available to us," Sixers coach Jim
O'Brien said. "They did what they had to do in the fourth quarter.
They're a potential world champion."
Philadelphia finished its five-game homestand with two
consecutive losses after winning the first three games.
Iverson left in the final minute after injuring his right elbow
running into a broadcast table. X-rays were negative.
Spurs point guard Tony Parker was scoreless in 32 minutes,
missing two shots and two free throws. He had eight rebounds and
six assists, and held Iverson to 8-for-24 shooting.
"I didn't have that many opportunities," Parker said. "I just
tried to run the game, move the ball and get it inside."
The Sixers missed their first 16 shots before Korver made a
short jumper with 4:30 left in the first quarter. Iverson missed
five shots during the 7½-minute scoreless stretch, and Andre
Iguodala missed a dunk.
Philadelphia finished the quarter 3-for-25 and trailed 20-6.
"It was hard to watch," Korver said. "They were good shots,
but the ball didn't want to go in the basket for some reason."
The Sixers outscored San Antonio 23-10 to start the second
quarter, closing to 30-29 on a jumper by Iverson. The Spurs
finished the quarter on a 10-4 run to take a 40-33 halftime lead.
