The South Taipei Globe. The Red Room Rendezvous 紅房餐酒館 restaurant, bar and exhibition space is at the center. Keelung Road runs through the middle leading to a distant 101. This piece will be hung at Red Room so as soon as indoor dining is possible go check it out! Until then they have some tasty food online!
I'll put some close-ups up later this week. It's been fun making this and trying something big in this perspective. Trying to translate a real place into a sphere and get everything to scale was a huge challenge. I don't think I've ever erased and re-drawn so much since the Tianmu Panorama last year! I'm thinking one centered on the Tainan Circle or central Keelung would look cool. At the moment though I'm waiting on confirmation from two projects before I start anything new!

週六決定讀讀幾個月前買的小說 （有中文版）。看過作者的採訪，她擅長用對比強烈的人物塑造故事張力。
故事是在19世紀初的美國德州，當時所謂的大西部還是很荒亂的地方，不同族群的歐洲移民（德國，英國，愛爾蘭，等等）各自建立群落，黑人自由還是個新的社會現象，白人與印地安人之前的爭奪和衝突不斷。故事的主角 Captin Kidd (基德上校）是一位歷經多次戰爭，也在爭戰流離中失去妻子和印刷廠的老人。他在戰後以巡迴各處閱讀報紙文章賺取生活費（當時很多文盲）。在一個偶然的機會中，他被僱用要護送一個被印地安人綁架的白人女孩回到她的白人家庭。6歲被綁架的女孩現在10歲了，打從心裡認知自己是印地安人。漫漫長途中，兩人互相不信任，老人怕女孩跑掉，女孩覺得自己被綁架。然後一起面對途中的危險，包括有人口販子要買下女孩，被潛伏的印地安人跟蹤，還有想要刷存在感的牛仔 （“你一定要讀關於我們的報導的新聞！”）。最後當上校把女孩送回親戚家時，卻導致意想不到的結果，讓上校不得不介入！在這裡就不爆雷了
整體敘述是以上校為主，時而在回憶他的過去，時而在感嘆女孩的“野蠻化”。但在幾次的危急中，他開始反思，為何女孩在部落中的四年讓她產生如此認同感，而他所認知的“文明”真的比較優越嗎？人們互相不理解對方文化時所產生的衝突，真的是不可避免的嗎？老人內心的細膩，以及女孩面對危難時化身印地安戰士，讓故事更加精彩。當時德州的蠻荒險惡，與他們真誠的情誼，也形成一種對比。看似被各自世界所遺忘的兩人，在彼此身上找到被需要的溫暖。
這個故事已經翻拍成電影，會是湯姆漢克斯主演，期待今年底上映！

Just to clarify a little on the timeline :
21st Dec :
Han pin was at the same place with Case A. No physical contact and he was in a distant.
25th Dec :
Was notified during dinner that Case A was infected with COVID-19. Evacuated ourselves from dinner place and stayed home.
26th Dec :
We both took the test as shown. Stayed home until we got PCR results.

I actually went for another test on the 5th Jan as I was told that I was exposed to someone with covid + ( went to a spin class on 31st Dec and the person was in the same class but was far away ) and only got informed on the 4th night. Eventho I do not have any physical/direct contact with anyone who has it but I still took the test again just to make sure and also currently on self isolation.

Hi guys, this vlog is called, "The Lost August" vlog because the month zoomed by so quickly that we barely recalled all the big and small things that came our way. Of course, we celebrated our anniversary and James' birthday which each made it to their own "vlog". But looking back on the month, so much more has happened, so much more has been accomplished and this is precisely why I love documenting my days and compiling vlogs.
