My doctor told me that at 16 weeks babies can start to hear sounds in the womb. I wanted #baobei (宝贝 darling) to get used to the sound of my voice singing to him before he even took his first breath in the world. So, it’s my goal to choose songs for M.Y. 這首詩是康明斯的代表作之一，才思敏捷的他不只能一針見血地諷諭傳統、細膩生動地描寫自然，寫起情詩更是深情浪漫，令許多讀者為之傾倒。​
​
詩中運用豐富的意象，描述說話者對情人是多麼鍾愛，從兩人之間擴及自然萬物，乃至無窮無盡。最後一個意象是繁星點點的夜空，象徵著堅貞與永恆，字裡行間的美麗和悸動讓人留下深刻印象。​
​
除此之外，這首詩還有幾個値得一提的有趣之處。康明斯在全詩中未曾使用一個大寫字，包括平常總是大寫的I（我），原因眾說紛紜，有一說是詩人想和他的情人（詩中的you）「保持同樣的高度」。眼尖的你可能也發現，多數提到情人的句子都被詩人放在括號之中，有「放在懷中好好保護」的意味。整首詩標點用得極少，用了也不加空格，暗示說話者和情人之間不想有太多的間隙，想要直接而親近地融為一體。在每句的字數上，詩人也做了特別的安排，起伏的外觀有相當好的視覺效果，且和這首詩的意象搭配得宜，讓這首詩非常適合寫在情人卡片上。1990 年，「吉他大師」麥可．赫吉斯（Michael Hedges）把這首詩譜成了廣受歡迎的同名流行曲。
