Every mid-autumn festival, we will celebrate by having dinner together, bring the girls to the park to play with their lanterns and sparklers, and then end off the night with mooncake and chinese tea. It's a yearly Woo tradition. And finally this year, Layla gets to join in the fun too! She cant walk yet, so she joined the party in the birthday present from Jojo and Aunty Geri @jochieng @drgeraldinelee!
I love our chinese culture, and i hope going forward we will continue to educate and create our own traditions with our future generations!
Layla had so much fun parading her lantern on her trike. Next year when she can manage candles better, we will definitely get her those traditional lanterns!

This exciting take on zong zi recipe is for the seafood lovers! While not from any specific dialect group, the Seafood Bak Chang recipe features a mouth-watering filling including baby abalone, crab, scallops, hei bi (dried shrimp) and salted egg.
On top of that, you can expect dumplings that are generously flavoured with XO sauce and oyster sauce for an aromatic fragrance that’ll keep you wanting seconds this duanwu festival!

800g Glutinous rice
1½ Pork lard oil
16 pieces Dried scallops
8 cloves Garlic
100g Dried shrimps
16 pieces Baby Abalone
1kg Crab leg meat (inclusive of shell)
16 pieces Salted eggs
100g Shallots (minced)
100g Garlic (minced)
Seasonings:
3 tbsp Light soy sauce
1 tbsp Dark soy sauce
3 tbsp XO sauce
3 tbsp Shaoxing wine
2 tbsp Sesame oil
White Pepper to taste
Wrappings:
32 pieces of bamboo leaves
Cotton strings / Hemp strings

If you are new to soap making, pls. make sure you read the SDS of sodium hydroxide carefully and put on your gloves, mask and google to protect yourself before starting.
It's a Chinese tradition to use Artemisia Argyi in the DuanWu Festival (the 5th of May in lunar calender). Most Taiwan soapers would create soaps with it during this season, so do I. Here are some of my creations.

This year, I tried another extract method with the fresh Artemisia Argyi that I picked up from my auntie's farm. It's a bit complicated, but the natural grreen color is so beautiful and definitely worth the efforts!
