Never in my 17 years of competitive track have I seen a team with such promise. This is not a critique on previous administrations, but a reflection of the strength I see in Team Ground Up.
Aside from being personable, the Team has really impressed me in these key areas:
1. they have already raised $100k worth of private funding (meaning we would have additional budget on top of the funding from SportSG ~$500k).
2. They have drawn up sound and concrete plans (and presented them to the affiliates) for the development and growth of track.
3. They also started to walk the ground to understand from the athletes and coaches (both of whom cannot vote for them).
All this BEFORE even getting voted in.
This shows their dedication and commitment, and affirms that their hopes and aspirations for the sport are not just lip service. I am inspired, and so hopeful.
Should they all be voted in by our affliates, I can’t wait to see them build the sport (from the ground) up.
