In an event commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party, Chinese President Xi Jinping hailed party's successes and the "national rejuvenation" it has been able to achieve.
Speaking in front of a reported crowd of 70,000 at a highly-choreographed ceremony in Tiananmen Square, Xi also vowed that China would no longer be "bullied, oppressed or subjugated" by foreign countries.
Here's the latest on the 100th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party as well as the mood in Hong Kong as the city marks 24 years since the handover and one year since the national security law was imposed.
DYAM Mejar Jeneral Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, Tunku Mahkota Johor berangkat ke Majlis Penyerahan Zakat dan Kurniaan Bantuan Zakat Bagi Tahun 2021M/1442H yang berlangsung di Pusat Konvensyen Antarabangsa Persada, Johor Bahru pada hari ini, 3 Mei 2021.
Dalam majlis berkenaan, Baginda berkenan menyaksikan penyerahan zakat dan penyampaian kurniaan berjumlah RM40,679,825.37 yang diberikan kepada penerima serta pertubuhan yang layak. Jumlah kutipan zakat negeri Johor bagi tahun 2020 adalah sebanyak RM300.086 juta di mana sebanyak RM299.70 juta ataupun 99.87 peratus telah diagihkan kepada golongan yang memerlukannya.
Antara penerima tersebut adalah terdiri dari pertubuhan-pertubuhan kebajikan dan sekolah pendidikan khas, anak-anak yatim negeri Johor serta sumbangan bantuan hari raya kepada para asnaf fakir, miskin dan muallaf.
Sumbangan turut diberikan kepada Tabung Pembangunan Masjid dan Madrasah Tahfiz Negeri Johor manakala untuk Persatuan Bulan Sabit Merah pula adalah bagi membantu menguruskan para gelandangan di negeri Johor.
Bagi pembayaran zakat, penyerahan disampaikan kepada Johor Corporation dan Lembaga Tabung Haji. Allah Peliharakan Sultan.

HRH Major General Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, Crown Prince of Johor attended a Zakat Presentation and Handover Ceremony for 2021M/1442H at the Persada International Convention Centre, Johor Bahru today, 3 May 2021.
During the ceremony, His Royal Highness oversaw the zakat presentation and handover of RM40,679,825.37 for eligible people and associations. A total of RM300.086 million in zakat payments for Johor were collected in 2020 whereby RM299.70 million or 99.87 per cent were distributed to the needy.
Among the receivers were welfare associations, special needs schools and Johor orphans, while Raya contributions were also given to the underprivileged, poor and converts.
Contributions were also given to Tabung Pembangunan Masjid and Madrasah Tahfiz Negeri Johor as well as to the Red Crescent Society to help the homeless in Johor.
For zakat payments, the handover was presented to Johor Corporation and Lembaga Tabung Haji. Allah Peliharakan Sultan.

Two helicopters flew flags over Victoria Harbour to mark Hong Kong's handover to China. The first helicopter dragged a large Chinese flag, while a second helicopter followed behind, with a much smaller Hong Kong flag.
I am no expert in aviation - but I expect it's quite difficult for pilots to drag a large flag under a helicopter, without it getting entangled in rotors.
