This was in July this year. I did a free photoshoot for the healthcare frontliners in the Philippines who visited Boracay Island. I surprised them with this video as my simple way of thanking them for the amazing job they are doing.
Today, some healthcare frontliners in the Philippines are not able to receive their benefits still.
Please be kind to our frontliners, and do something extra nice for them?

DELIVERY WORKERS
PM Lee: I am especially concerned about a specific group of lower-wage workers. These are delivery workers who work with online platforms like Foodpanda, Grab & Deliveroo. They lack the job protection that most employees have, like workplace injury compensation, union representation and employer CPF.
Besides delivery workers, there are also some lower-wage workers in other jobs who have an employee-like relationship with platforms. Such lower-wage workers will find it harder to afford housing, healthcare & eventually retirement. More people are taking up this type of work, so this problem is growing.
The Singapore Ministry of Manpower is studying it, and will be doing consultations. We must address the issues & give these workers more secure futures.

Saya dimaklumkan bahawa ada seruan untuk melaksanakan Hartal Doktor Kontrak.
Hartal ini dibuat dengan satu mesej yang sangat jelas: Kebajikan dan suara doktor kontrak tidak dibela.
Doktor Kontrak ini tidak menggalas imej popular kerjaya sebagai seorang doktor. Kononnya doktor ini hidupnya senang, kerjanya dipandang tinggi.
Tetapi realiti sebenar doktor kontrak ini lebih dekat dengan imej gaji yang tidak bermaruah, beban kerja yang melampau dan tidak ada perlindungan yang baik kepada mereka.
Bayangkan, apabila imej frontliners itu dilihat mulia, tetapi doktor kontrak masih lagi bertarung untuk memastikan mereka mendapat gaji yang setimpal, job security dan mahu layanan yang sama baik dengan mereka yang bekerja tetap.
Ini belum masuk isu elaun, perlindungan asas dan lain-lain kepada doktor kontrak.
Pada awal bulan Mac tahun 2021 juga, ada berita doktor kontrak ini dinaikkan pangkat tetapi gajinya masih sama. Adilkah layanan begini kepada mereka?
Saya sudah beberapa kali membawa isu doktor kontrak ini untuk kerajaan selesaikan tetapi belum ada tindakan yang memuaskan.
Aduan dan keluh kesah doktor kontrak ini adalah realiti dan perlu ditangani dengan bijak oleh Menteri Kesihatan. Malangnya, belum ada jalan yang dibuat.
Kepada semua doktor, saya bersama anda. Hartal Doktor Kontrak ini adalah hak anda dan suara anda wajib didengar oleh kerajaan.
Selagi boleh bersuara, saya akan bersuara untuk anda!
