Let's talk about our periods. Openly, with no embarrassment... and with Rayka Zehtabchi, director of "Period. End of Sentence" -- the Oscar-winning short film that tackles the taboo of menstruation.
Her film focuses on women in a small Indian village who start a life-changing business making and selling sanitary pads.
I asked Zehtabchi if she was shocked by how deep the stigma is around periods and menstrual hygiene when she filmed the documentary in India
"It's not until you are face-to-face with the women, having conversations with them and understanding what their day-to-day experiences are really like until you realize how deep this taboo is and how it holds women back," she tells me.
"The most incredible experience was witnessing how empowered these women felt after they started a business making these sanitary pads and really own it."
The film is available to stream on Netflix. Watch it and be inspired.

People, let's talk about periods. It's important. 🚺🔴💪🏽
According to WaterAid and Unicef, more than a third of girls in South Asia miss school during their periods. It's often due to the fact they lack access to toilets or pads. They also lack access to basic facts about menstruation.
Suhani Jalota is an activist who works to improve women's sanitary hygiene in India. She is the founder of the Myna Mahila Foundation which is also one of only a handful of charities chosen to benefit from donations marking the recent royal wedding.
On #MenstrualHygieneDay, I speak to Suhani Jolata about tackling period stigma and improving sanitary hygiene for women and girls. Our interview will air today on News Stream. 8p Hong Kong, 12p London. CNN.
