If I knew that there was such a thing called confinement food catering when I first gave birth in 2009, I would definitely have taken it up. However, that was a time when we were living in Sweden and with the culture being so vastly different over there, confinement was an unfamiliar concept. From what I saw, many mums were out and about with their newborns shortly after giving birth, which explains why I am also an active mum who doesn't like to stay indoor much.
In spite of that, I do believe that it is very important for us to control our diet and eat well during this period. Even though my first confinement was done overseas in the midst of winter, as much as I could, I stayed off snacks and cold stuff, ate nutritious food and maintained a healthy diet. I honestly feel that eating the right food would help to accelerate my postpartum recovery process and give me the strength I needed to care for the baby, which was important since I was usually on my own.
While I never had a confinement lady before -- it's the same as why we don't have a helper, I just prefer to do it on my own instead of asking others to look after my kids - I did have my mother-in-law come over to cook for me during my past confinements. This was something I deeply appreciated yet I also felt bad for making her go through the hassle. For instance, when we were in Sweden, she had to hunt high and low for the food ingredients, like red dates, old ginger and pig's liver, which were rare and hard to find in most cases, and with the need to cook every day, things could get tiring for her.
Now that years have passed and age has caught up, I surprised our friends and family members by boldly having a fourth baby. Yup, and so the cycle begins all over again. Given that I am older and more experienced now, I decided I didn't want to trouble anyone - well, except for the hubby - to help for my confinement but instead settle everything on my own.
Thanks to Tian Wei Signature, all my meals were settled for the entire month which allowed me to focus on resting and caring for the baby, woohoo! This was so important for me as he was born prematurely and I wanted to make sure he was doing well and properly looked after. Having confinement meals delivered to my doorstep was a feeling that I loved, because it meant I didn't have to depend on others to cook for me yet I also did not have to slog in the kitchen at a time when I was supposed to be recuperating. I tried out their most extensive package, which is the 28-Day Double, including both Lunch and Dinner, and it was something that I truly enjoyed and looked forward to each day.
In this post, I'll share with you more on why I totally think that confinement food catering is a lifesaver, at least for me, and will showcase more of the dishes I've tried and which I loved best. I also have a giveaway ongoing on my IG so hop over if you wish to try out these yummy confinement meals too.

Hi friends,
What started as a 6km ride that took 30 minutes to complete has evolved into a wonderful journey of growth, not just for Uzair, but those around him as well. If you have been following Uzair’s journey, you would know how much he loves cycling, always giving us his brightest smiles each time he puts on his jersey.
So with everything that cycling has gifted Uzair, we thought hard about how we could extend this gift to those in need as well as others like him. We think we've found the perfect way...
We would like to humbly invite all our dear friends and supporters to join in and pledge a donation for each kilometer Uzair cycles (we aim to cycle 750km - cumulatively, in the month of JULY).
How it works:
For every km Uzair cycles, you pledge to donate a set amount, i.e: 10cents / 20cents / 50cents / rm1 etc. The amount is entirely up to you! 😊
For example: if you pledge 10 cent, you will be donating RM75; a 20 cents pledge, would mean a donation of RM150 and so on
We will allocate the amount raised as follows –
1) To help 30 households at our kampung, (Pontian, Johor) with basic groceries worth RM100 for each household. Our aunty (Uzair's grand-aunt) who lives in Pontian has personally identified these households as those most in need, during this tough and uncertain time and,
2) Donate to Autism Café Project Malaysia
About Autism Café Project Malaysia
A café with the prime objective of securing future independence for youths with autism by providing training and working opportunities. Covid-19 has hit the café hard as the pandemic has left the boys without work since late March up till the end May. The boys were affected emotionally well, as their routine were disrupted from not working and not earning. The café had expansion plans to set up a professional kitchen that could train the boys to work professionally in a conducive and hygienic environment but their collaboration with many organisations to achieve this has been derailed due to the pandemic.
Any amount pledged would be most appreciated and would surely put a smile on someone’s face. Every km Uzair cycles would now be even more meaningful with your help.
Please find attached a google form for you to register you interest. On 31st of July, we will contact you personally to update our progress and whether we have reached our target and to also communicate how/where your donations can be channeled to. We will also put up regular updates on his progress throughout the month on instagram.

I have been working as a GrabFood deliveryman since I lost all of my arts income due to the current COVID-19 climate.
If I could sum my experience up in a phrase, I would say it has been an experiential ethnography of privilege and empathy.
I have had some bad/heartbreaking experiences. I encountered a migrant worker who asked me to give him some of the food that I was supposed to deliver to a paying customer - the migrant worker had no money to buy lunch because his employer was not paying his wages on time. I received a one out of five star rating for a delayed delivery, because it was raining and when I reached the lobby of the forty-storey high condominum, I had to queue up at the security counter for temperature taking/contact tracing purposes.
But I have also had my share of heartwarming encounters. On my first day of work, a waitress bought me a drink while I was waiting for an order that was taking longer than usual to be prepared (“做这行辛苦了,这杯茶泡给你喝,替你加油!”). A granny who lived in what looked like a rental flat tipped me $5 for a Burger King order that cost slightly more than my tip.
Ever since the 'circuit breaker' measures kicked in on Tuesday, I have seen Safe Distancing Ambassadors and enforcement officers from the various government ministries on the ground discouraging people from gathering/roaming together on the streets - a tough but necessary thing to do given how infectious the coronavirus has proven to be.
At the same time, I am also frustrated by some of the vigilantism/shaming that has been happening on social media - ranging from people loitering in void decks to fellow deliverymen having meals in public. To be able to stay at home (let's not even talk about ordering in) means that you have a certain kind of privilege that not everyone has. For every person who is irresponsibly hanging outside for fun, there is also another person who genuinely does not feel safe to be at home, be it alone or with members of their household - whom they may not be on good terms with.
Stay at home if you can - we need all hands on board to curb the spread of COVID-19. But if you do see someone else not staying at home as often as they should be - rather than admonishing them straightaway, gently check in with them to see if there is anything you can do to help them stay safe in these trying times. Sometimes there are complicated circumstances behind the non-conformative actions that people take, that we can never discern on the surface.
[P.S. Do tip your deliverymen if you can - even a $1 tip is appreciated! It is the only form of income that companies does not, and cannot touch. Delivery earnings across the board have been slowly, but surely reducing for us because of the sudden influx of deliverymen, and the less than proportionate increase in demand for food delivery from consumers.]
[P.P.S. If you are thinking about ordering from your favourite hawker stall, if you can help it, try to dapao/bungkus from them in person rather than through a third-party app, so that the hawker can minimise the commissions that they have to pay for using the third-party app to offer delivery services.]

Hello Youtube Family,
Today’s Vlog:
How I Would Fight,
Bubz Family ROCKS,
We MADE IT!
SO GOOD!
Welcome Back, Daddy!
After 12 days of solitude time with Isaac, Tim is back from Hong Kong again and we could not be any happier. We've been enjoying lots of quality time at home since it's been very cold in Belfast lately. Just over 6 weeks until Christmas though. WOOOOOOHOOO!
Before the 'Building Schools' campaign launched, I had been slightly worried about hitting such a big target. In the end, I had to remind myself that we should focus on doing the best could. Either way, lives are going to be changed. I stopped worrying and just decided to believe and be grateful. Now, we are already 60% into building the 2nd school already. Absolutely exceeding my expectations in such a short amount of time into the campaign. So I want to take this moment to thank you all for your selfless and kind hearts. I know these couple days has been disheartening. In this time, we have even more reason to stay united and walk in love. Let's all have faith and stay optimistic =)
If you don't know already, it's also that time again where I'm on another big mission to hopefully make the world a brighter place. I hope you guys can join me in the hopes of building three more schools for the children of Ghana. It makes all the difference to a child’s life to be able to read and write. It would mean the WORLD to me if you guys can help support the cause. I believe we can come together and do something incredible once again. You can truly make a huge difference to these children's lives by providing a safe environment for them to be educated each day. You can help either by:
Purchasing a T-Shirt: Designed by yours truly. All the profits go straight to fund building schools for children of Ghana. It is a limited edition design and the campaign will only go on for another 4 days.
Purchasing the Be By Bubzbeauty Palette: BH Cosmetics are donating $2 of every palette to Pencils Of Promise
Donating: All donations big or small will be greatly appreciated!

Hello Youtube Family,
Today's Vlog:
Just Us Once Again,
At Wits End,
Both Feeling Poorly,
Cute Granny Bubz,
SHARE THE LOVE!
Here is just another vlog me of being a drama queen and most likely being dramatic once again. Tim left for Hong Kong 12 days ago and I had kind of been dreading it along due to the fact quite a few important deadlines are in the same week. Somehow, Isaac and I ended up getting a viral infection together and it threw me out of whack. Long story short, we got over it. Deadlines too. Daddy got back today and we are all very happy. He actually changed his flight to come back early but once he did that, Isaac started to go back to normal. AHHH WELL! I'm not complaining about having my husband back early. As a family, we are still sick but very happy =DDDD
Sorry for having to watch me cry once again. I told you! I cry easily ='D When I was editing this, I was rolling my eyes but in the moment, I was mega emotional. I'm too afraid to listen to the audio messages I left Tim too....
Love, the Bubz family xo

Hello Youtube family,
Today's Vlog:

Granny Bonding Time,
The Other Time Of The Month,
I Can't Be The Only One,
Tim's "impressive" nose strip

UPDATE:
WHHHAATTT? Almost 1000 pieces shirts already!?!? Is this for real? That is absolutely INSANE. ????? Thank you for your help so far, everyone!!!!!! Only 11 days left until this campaign ends so be sure to grab one quick if you want to support the cause. The limited shirt designs are designed by myself, all profits will go straight to fund building schools for children of Ghana. Alternatively, you can be a rock star and donate straight to the cause. We are over 50% into building our first school already (including donations, we are even closer. Maybe 60-70% there). We're closer and closer to providing a safe environment for children to learn everyday!!! Can you imagine if we each did a small part, just how much of an impact we could make together?
Isaac and I both had the viral infection so it was not easy since Tim left for Hong Kong about 10 days ago. It's been tough indeed balancing everything but we're almost near the end. Looking forward to seeing Daddy Ng soon!!!
Ps. Can you believe that Tim has NEVER seen The Snowman?? HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE!!??!?!?!?
