I was recently invited to Tatcha’s Indigo Overnight Repair launch event and went home with their beautiful gift set.
Did you know that Tatcha’s collection is inspired by classical Japanese beauty secrets? Formulated with pure, kind-to-skin Japanese superfoods ingredients.
The Indigo Overnight Repair’s blue packaging was inspired by these interesting facts: 原來追溯至日本江戶時代 ,Samurais wore a layer of indigo-dyed cotton beneath their armor to help heal injuries. Known as “Japan blue,” the rich dye was also used for traditional firefighter uniforms and presented to newborns in the form of a blanket ➰a symbolic testament to its protective qualities.

{Book Giveaway} "A book is a magical thing that lets you travel to far-away places without ever leaving your chair."
Now that we can't go overseas, that does not mean we stop exploring. To us, one of the best ways to learn and see more of the world is through reading. I had the chance to visit Tokyo on my company incentive trip (that was more than 13 years ago before I switched to being a stay-home mum) before the kids came along and up till now, it is still one of my favourite cities and I earnestly hope to bring the family there someday.
Written by our well-loved local author Emily Lim, Marky Polo in Tokyo tells the tale of a pangolin who is travelling overseas for the first time. At the airport, his luggage was taken up by another traveller and in order to retrieve it, he and his cousin had to pass through many famous places in Tokyo.
They include the Imperial Palace, Tokyo Skytree, streets of Harajuku, Shibuya crossing and the Samurai Museum. It is a colourful and interesting way to let the kids learn more about these famous attractions and there are even fun facts about animals native to Japan, for instance the amami rabbit, red-crowned crane and Akita-inu.
The book also lets readers have an Augmented Reality experience simply by downloading an app and scanning the pangolin icon when it appears on the page. We can't wait to see where Marky will go next on his exciting travels!
Giveaway! I am giving away TWO copies of this educational, enriching and beautifully illustrated book to you. To join,

Round-up of unusual and interesting Japanese trains, including ultra-luxurious and themed trains. Plus a few train-themed restaurants and hotels in Japan!
I love that there are so many interesting trains in Japan. As well as the shinkansen (bullet train) and all the Joyful Trains I covered in a previous video, there are lots more special trains with scenic views, luxury carriages, novelty themes and characters. This round-up includes the Twilight Express Mizukaze, the Stove Train in Aomori, the Kintetsu Ikoma Cable Car in Nara, a planetarium train and a spooky Yokai Train in Kyoto. There are also a few themed restaurants and cafes, like a bar in an old subway carriage, and several new hotels with train-themed rooms.

American vs Asian culture: what America found 'weird' about Chinese and Japanese culture
In this video, I interviewed Zoe, a fifth year student at University of Cincinnati, USA. She shares with us points and interesting facts about American culture and her experience in the East (China and Japan) in terms of time, work, dating and American English accent. That's why I think her view is interesting.
My family have had a great time in America. USA, Vietnam, China and Japan are without a doubt their oddities to the eyes of foreigners. Since I came to America, on the way to acquire American citizenship, I have found some weird things and stranger aspects here that I can't forget. My wife used to tell me about the weirdest and strangest things about American culture, food, and much more in comparison to Vietnam, lao, China and Japan. I am sure that American will find weird things about our culture and Asian culture as well. Understanding the cultural difference between countries is a good way to alleviate culture shock, to make friends and to integrate with local people.
Some weird things n USA: from cold, and huge sodas, to massive portion sizes of food
