Jr. NBA MALAYSIA PRESENTED BY DUTCH LADY ARRIVES AT THE SHORES OF PENANG, MALAYSIA, 1 June, 2016 – Jr. NBA Malaysia presented by Dutch Lady conducted its first clinic in Malaysia’s northern region! This expanded program reached 40 schools and 700 boys and girls in Penang and Kedah.

Tuan Haji Abdul Halim Bin Ibrahim, Head of Sports Unit Penang State Education Department, Jim Wong, Senior Director of Global Marketing Partnerships, NBA Asia and Sharon Lee, Brand Manager of Marketing Department, Dutch Lady Milk Industries Berhad were present at the announcement of six selected participants (two girls and four boys) namely Ooi Qi Yan, Choo Chloe, Tan Wei Thong, Chong Chee Boon, Tan Chun Zhi and Tan Hunn Chuann who will advance to the Selection Camp in Kuala Lumpur from July 16 - 17, moving them one step closer to being named as a Jr. NBA Malaysia All-Star!

The clinics were led by Jr. NBA coach Chris Sumner, along with coaches from the Westports Malaysia Dragons, and the Ministry of Education (MOE) from Penang. Participants were trained in the fundamentals of basketball, learning the importance of the Jr. NBA’s core values of sportsmanship, teamwork, having a positive attitude, respect (S.T.A.R.) and the benefits of proper nutrition.

Dutch Lady serves as the presenting partner of the Jr. NBA progam in Malaysia as part of its Drink. Move. Be Strong campaign, which encourages an active lifestyle and a healthy diet among Malaysia youth while highlighting milk’s role in a child’s growth and development, helping build muscle, keeping bones strong while also filling up and rehydrating.

The draft class produced three players who won NBA MVP awards (Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson, Steve Nash), seven other drafted players who became All-Stars (Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Ray Allen, Žydrūnas Ilgauskas, Stephon Marbury, Jermaine O'Neal, Peja Stojaković, Antoine Walker), and one undrafted All-Star (Ben Wallace), for a grand total of 11 All-Stars. Moreover, eight players from this draft class have been named to at least one All-NBA Team, the most among any draft. The draft class also produced 3 players who have been named to the NBA's all-defensive first team: Bryant, Marcus Camby, and Wallace. Camby won the Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2007, while Wallace earned the same award in 2002, 2003, 2005, and 2006. Eventual 5-time NBA champion Derek Fisher was also included in the draft.

Kobe Bryant's 20th and final NBA season came to a close on Wednesday night. He finished it exactly as he spent most of it: remorselessly and gleefully gunning.

He did so on 50 field-goal attempts, the most by any player in any one game dating back to the 1983-84 season, to lead the Lakers to a thrilling and unbelievable 101-96 win over the visiting Utah Jazz.

In yet another season full of losing that saw the Lakers finish with a franchise-worst 17-65 record, Kobe found a way to go out a winner ... and to go out a winner in the most precisely, 10-out-of-10 Kobe way humanly possible.

Kobe becomes one of just four players in NBA history to take 50 shots in a game, joining Wilt, Elgin Baylor and Rick Barry. In going 6 for 21 from 3-point land, he becomes just the sixth player ever to cast off from beyond the arc more than 20 times in a game, alongside record-holder J.R. Smith (naturally), Damon Stoudamire, Vince Carter, George McCloud and Michael Adams.

The run-up to Kobe's 1,556th and final NBA game featured loads of pomp and circumstance, from all manner of "thanks for the memories" swag for the fans to diamond-studded golden retirement rings for Bryant and his wife, Vanessa.
