失智，是許多家庭的痛，照顧者心痛，長輩隨著記憶退化，往往也陷入惶恐不安。然而，大腦到底發生什麼事，讓我們記憶退化、反應變差？
中研院生醫所陳儀莊特聘研究員說明，記憶的形成和維持，都依賴 #神經網絡 順利運作。當大腦的神經細胞 #無法順利代謝壞蛋白質，蛋白質持續不正常堆積，就可能造成失智、漸凍症。
但，為何神經細胞會無法順暢「倒垃圾」？
關鍵就在於 #腦脊髓液流通不順暢。而科學家在小鼠實驗中發現，腦脊髓液的流通，不只跟 #年齡 有關，還跟 #睡眠 密切相關！🧓👵💤

漸凍人是什麼：
運動神經元疾病（Motor Neuron Disease，簡稱MND ），俗稱「漸凍症」。
「漸凍症」是世界衛生組織公告21世紀重要困難治療的疾病之一，患者中樞神經系統的運動神經細胞會快速進行性凋亡，兩三年內逐漸出現神經肌肉萎縮、四肢癱瘓、無法言語、無法吞嚥、甚至呼吸衰竭，以致於必須長期依賴呼吸器維生，就像植物人一樣。
然而他們的意識卻非常清醒，卻無法與外界溝通，我們稱之為「漸凍人」。至今尚未找到可以根治此疾病的方法。
