Sound spiritual advice from the Reformer Martin Luther on the pandemic even before modern medicine (no, I'm not joking):
Use medicine; take potions which can help you; fumigate house, yard, and street; shun persons and places wherever your neighbor does not need your presence or has recovered, and act like a man who wants to help put out the burning city. What else is the epidemic but a fire which instead of consuming wood and straw devours life and body? You ought to think this way: “Very well, by God’s decree the enemy has sent us poison and deadly offal. Therefore I shall ask God mercifully to protect us. Then I shall fumigate, help purify the air, administer medicine, and take it. I shall avoid places and persons where my presence is not needed in order not to become contaminated and thus perchance infect and pollute others, and so cause their death as a result of my negligence. If God should wish to take me, he will surely find me and I have done what he has expected of me and so I am not responsible for either my own death or the death of others. If my neighbor needs me, however, I shall not avoid place or person but will go freely, as stated above. See, this is such a God-fearing faith because it is neither brash nor foolhardy and does not tempt God.
Moreover, he who has contracted the disease and recovered should keep away from others and not admit them into his presence unless it be necessary...

Use your Gifts in a Spirit of Love
“If I speak with the languages of men and of angels, but don’t have love, I have become sounding brass, or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but don’t have love, I am nothing. If I dole out all my goods to feed the poor, and if I give my body to be burned, but don’t have love, it profits me nothing.” (1 Corinthians 13:1-3 WEB)
The Corinthian church liked to show off their gift of praying in tongues in a chaotic manner. They spoke it loudly during worship and the sharing of the word, causing such disruption that Paul had to teach them to do everything orderly in congregational worship. The problem was not just limited to that. They liked to compare and boast about who had a better spiritual gift.
Probably one person who could pray in tongues liked to say how he was greater or more loved by God than other members who could not do it. Then the other would retort saying that he had another better spiritual gift than praying in tongues. These squabbles would lead to factions being formed, people with the same kind of gifts grouping together and disliking those who had different gifts from them.
That is why Paul had to use the analogy of the foot and the hand saying that they don’t need each other being a ridiculous idea. He had to teach them proper decorum on how to minister in their gifts the right way. Paul had to teach them how the body of Christ is meant to be united as one, working together, and built up in love.
“For as the body is one, and has many members, and all the members of the body, being many, are one body; so also is Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether bond or free; and were all given to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many. If the foot would say, “Because I’m not the hand, I’m not part of the body,” it is not therefore not part of the body. If the ear would say, “Because I’m not the eye, I’m not part of the body,” it’s not therefore not part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole were hearing, where would the smelling be? But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body, just as he desired. If they were all one member, where would the body be? But now they are many members, but one body. The eye can’t tell the hand, “I have no need for you,” or again the head to the feet, “I have no need for you.” No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary. Those parts of the body which we think to be less honorable, on those we bestow more abundant honor; and our unpresentable parts have more abundant propriety; whereas our presentable parts have no such need. But God composed the body together, giving more abundant honor to the inferior part, that there should be no division in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another. When one member suffers, all the members suffer with it. Or when one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.” (1 Corinthians 12:12-26 WEB)
Comparison and divisiveness are toxic. Everything ought to be done in love, if not, it is easy for pride to come in and ruin everything. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies.
It is not so much about their gifts not working or profiting them when they don’t do it in the right spirit. Yes, they may lose out on heavenly rewards because God weighs the heart, but spiritual gifts will always work because they operate by grace—not based on how worthy the person is by works. It is more about how it is pointless when done boastfully because God gave them the gifts to be used in love—not to compare, boast, or inflate their egos. God’s spiritual gifts are not party tricks to impress men with.
Use your gifts in a spirit of love, to build people up by demonstrating the love of God. Recognize that every believer has a different set of gifts, unique for his or her calling. Yes, you have a gift! God designed this diversity so that we would all need each other, and minister to one another. Just like that, we will build up the body of Christ in love. This is the right way that glorifies God!
God has equipped you with powerful gifts to fulfill your calling. Do you know what your gifts and calling are? Do you know what are eternal rewards and how you can maximize them, especially seeing as Jesus’ return is so close, right at the doors? “Sandcastles Don’t Last Forever” is a book that this end time generation needs to read. Redeem your time wisely and receive the best eternal rewards: http://bit.ly/sandcastlesdontlastforever

Bring a Good Report
“They told him, and said, “We came to the land where you sent us. Surely it flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit. However the people who dwell in the land are strong, and the cities are fortified and very large. Moreover, we saw the children of Anak there. Amalek dwells in the land of the South. The Hittite, the Jebusite, and the Amorite dwell in the hill country. The Canaanite dwells by the sea, and along the side of the Jordan.” Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it!” But the men who went up with him said, “We aren’t able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.” They brought up an evil report of the land which they had spied out to the children of Israel, saying, “The land, through which we have gone to spy it out, is a land that eats up its inhabitants; and all the people who we saw in it are men of great stature. There we saw the Nephilim, the sons of Anak, who come from the Nephilim. We were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.”” (Numbers 13:27-33 WEB)
The twelve men Moses sent out to spy the land were princes of each respective tribe of Israel.
Ten spies brought back an evil report of the land, whereas only Joshua and Caleb gave a good report.
These princes who were leaders of the tribes can represent spiritual leaders like pastors who are entrusted with God’s flocks.
Pastors should not be preaching fear as if the enemy is so much stronger than us.
“Be careful, or the devil will get you. The devil is very crafty and the whole world is under his sway.”
When a pastor keeps talking about the devil, is he really preaching the Gospel which produces faith, or preaching the bad news of the devil which produces fear?
Spiritual leaders ought not to mislead their congregations this way.
While the ten spies saw large and fortified cities built by giants as a scary obstacle, Joshua and Caleb were excited, seeing those cities as their soon-to-be possessions to house the children of Israel.
The ten spies were focusing on how large and imposing the giants were, but Joshua and Caleb were only conscious of how mighty Yahweh is, and they believed that He would give them the victory.
“Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, who were of those who spied out the land, tore their clothes. They spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying, “The land, which we passed through to spy it out, is an exceeding good land. If Yahweh delights in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it to us; a land which flows with milk and honey. Only don’t rebel against Yahweh, neither fear the people of the land; for they are bread for us. Their defense is removed from over them, and Yahweh is with us. Don’t fear them.” But all the congregation threatened to stone them with stones. Yahweh’s glory appeared in the Tent of Meeting to all the children of Israel. Yahweh said to Moses, “How long will this people despise me? and how long will they not believe in me, for all the signs which I have worked among them?” (Numbers 14:6-11 WEB)
Joshua and Caleb were free from fear because they believed that Yahweh was on their side.
When there is an imposing challenge in your path that has the potential for huge gains, see the Lord generously giving the victory to you. If it is truly an exceedingly good land, and the Lord brought you to that point, He will also supply you with the grace to overcome all difficulties.
While the ten princes saw themselves as grasshoppers in the giants’ sight, Joshua and Caleb saw the giants as bread to be easily devoured! Two drastically different beliefs because the ten princes did not have faith in Yahweh, whereas Joshua and Caleb believed in Him.
In the end, the glory of the Lord appeared and He rebuked the people for their bad opinion of Him and the unbelief in their hearts.
Even though He had worked mighty signs and wonders in Egypt, the Red Sea, and in the wilderness, the children of Israel were so hard-hearted that they forgot all the amazing things that the Lord had done for them.
If you have been entrusted with leadership over God’s people, make sure you are preaching the Gospel (good news) to them, painting a vision of a good God who loves His people and who is mighty to save in any situation. Christians don’t need any more negativity or fear—they already get that from the world in their daily lives.
When you encounter a new challenge, focus on the bigness of your God, not on the strength of your enemies. No matter what shape, size, or form they come in, God is still more powerful than all of them combined, and He will give you the victory when you trust in Him.
A new faith declaration: “The size or power of my enemy is irrelevant because my God is so much greater than any enemy. My God is with me and I am victorious through Him who loves me!”
Keep studying God’s word and growing in your understanding of His ways. Our Patreon community is currently on a Bible study series called “My Faith Declarations” which looks at the Spirit-inspired utterances of the authors of the Psalms. They wrote about the trials and tribulations they experienced, so the book of Psalms is very relatable.
By turning their faith declarations into our own, we can learn how to overcome similar circumstances in life through faith in the Lord! I first heard about cord blood banking 13 years ago when I was pregnant with Isobel. My family history of breast , throat and colon cancer played a bit part in my decision to bank Isobel’s cord blood and even though cord blood stem cells aren’t being used to treat those diseases right now, research IS ongoing and I really believe this will be the treatment of choice in the near future.
I look at it more as insurance for Isobel, and for me.
Oddly, I didn’t think of storing Iman and Isidore, my second and third childs’ baby cord blood – probably because I thought Isobel’s cord blood would be enough for her siblings SHOULD they need it… but when I found out I was pregnant with Ilon, and made the decision to proceed with the pregnancy despite the odds, I revisited the decision to bank my 4th child’s cord blood but not without some concerns from Azmi – and rightfully so.
My primary reason for banking Ilon’s cord blood was for peace of mind. When I made that decision to keep my precious baby, naturally Azmi and I committed to it and did so much to prepare for Ilon’s birth to ensure his and my health and life was priority.
But is cord blood banking one of the things you ought to consider? To decide, it helps to know how the process works, and what cord blood may be able to do (and can’t), should you ever need it.
Here to help separate the hype from the facts of cord blood and tissue banking, I speak to Mr Andy Hon, Medical Science Liasion from Stemlife Berhad – to answer any questions you have in mind.

Where should we go
Just when we about to fall
We owe, we flow, we ought to grow
I guess the hope is the way we go
Untill we fall, to somewhere down below
Where should we go
Just when we about to fall
We owe, we flow, we ought to grow
I guess the hope is the way we go
Untill we fall, to somewhere down below
想不通我的宇宙怎麼忽然靜默
話不投機半句也算太多
Where should we go
Just when we about to fall
We owe, we flow, we ought to grow
I guess the hope is the way we go
Untill we fall, to somewhere down below
Where should we go
Just when we about to fall
We owe, we flow, we ought to grow
I guess the hope is the way we go
Untill we fall, to somewhere down below
