The people I’ve met 😳

Thanks to my dad being a part of the rugby community, I grew up meeting and hanging out with people I look up to. It’s not something I’ve ever been too fussed about 🤷🏻♂️ I don’t know why, but some of my interactions in the states have been different... and fucking inspiring.

I went to train @the_dragons_lair for 2 reasons:
1) I knew both my favourite bodybuilders of all time might be around.
2) I wanted the feeling of training in a facility filled with greatness again.

1) By chance, both @jaycutler & @flex_lewis were there 😱 Dont ask why I didn’t get a proper selfie with both of them 🤦🏻♂️ They’re just so fucking enormous that it took about half an hour to muster up the bollocks to say Hi to Jay (and I needed the urgency of him leaving to do so) and then to catch James. I couldn’t have expected to spend 20mins talking shop & him telling me about what he’s had to put into his career to get him to where he is now. From our Welsh heritage to working multiple jobs to make things work, the similarities were an inspiring push to keep at it... and he dropped a few gems of advice about priorities in there too 💎

2) When I lived in Swansea for a few years I trained at Burns Gym. It was owned by John Burns who competed in the ‘76 & ‘80 Olympics Weightlifting and all the biggest bastards in Swansea trained there🏋🏻♂️ Sometimes the GB powerlifting team would come in to train.

I was 6ft tall & 67kg - the skinniest dude in the whole gym when I started there with my first proper gym membership. It was a half an hour walk from my apartment (often in the rain) and I was shy every time I stepped foot in it... but I did it because I knew what a difference it made surrounding yourself with the best.

This was the closest I’ve been to being in a gym with that feeling. Guys (and girls! 💪🏽 There was none in Burns) pushing their limits, and everyone had wild physiques 🤯

For context, I’m now 85kg and 10% body fat... and James makes me look like a twig 😂 It’s easy to get complacent comparing yourself to yourself.
