CNN dubbed 'China News Network': what double-standard trick are some U.S. media playing?
By John Lee
(ECNS) -- U.S. Cable News Network (CNN) was surprised by China's coronavirus vaccination rates, calling it "a scale and speed unrivaled by any other country in the world" in its report "China is about to administer its billionth coronavirus shot" last Friday. Fox News cited a commentary by NewsBusters analyst Nicholas Fondacaro, who labeled CNN as "China News Network pumping out propaganda for the CCP." A fact report on China was interpreted as "pro-China propaganda", showing some people in the U.S. and other Western countries had played a double-standard trick on China once again.
In fact, this is not the first time that they have practiced double standards on China issues. Previously, some U.S. media including CNN romanticized the rocket debris of SpaceX as "lighting up the sky with a spectacular rocket show", while coordinately stating China's rocket debris would "cause threats to objects on Earth". This time, CNN's report on China's vaccination speed was called "running Chinese propaganda for the CCP", with even Chinese statistics brought into doubt. It is nothing but their prejudice against China's development that sees lies flattered while facts are questioned and ridiculed.
It is an established fact that China has administered more than one billion doses of the COVID vaccine. Some U.S media shout for press freedom, but can't stop satirizing and questioning objective China-related reports, which is no doubt "sour grapes psychology." Does their press freedom mean unlimited freedom in attacking and smearing China?
China's achievements in fighting COVID-19 won't be effaced despite their slander. Statistics released by National Health Commission on Sunday shows more than one billion vaccines have been administered across China as of Saturday, which is definitely true and reliable. Therefore, U.S. media should give up their double-standard related to China, abide by news facts and professional ethics and report on China in a fair and objective way.

A young, exciting backcourt star rose to the forefront last night at Madison Square Garden. And when Allen Iverson's season-high 35-point performance had finished off the Knicks, New York's three-game winning streak was finished as well.
With Larry Johnson missing two potential game-tying 3-pointers during the final 20 seconds, the Philadelphia 76ers edged the Knicks, 101-97, in a game in which Iverson imposed his will.
Both Charlie Ward and Scott Brooks fouled out trying to contain Iverson -- a job that nobody on the Knicks could handle.
Iverson shot 10 for 19 from the field, and 5 for 9 from 3-point range -- making jumpers, slicing to the basket and keeping constant pressure on a Knick defense that became passive as Iverson became more aggressive. Only his free-throw shooting was off: if he had shot better than 10 of 17 from the line, he might have scored 40 points.
After watching this game, do not be surprised if Chris Childs (non-displaced fractured right fibula) is inclined to rush himself back into the Knicks' lineup. Childs begins full-scale workouts Wednesday, and he could be activated later this week. The Knicks could have used Childs last night, but it might not have mattered who defended the Sixers' talented rookie. Iverson was that good. And playing in New York for the first time as a professional did not unnerve Iverson. It was Iverson who unnerved the Knicks.
Asked if anyone could have covered him, Iverson said: ''I don't think so. When my jumper is on, I can pretty much do whatever I want. But when the jumper is on, it is hard to stop anybody in this league.''

Something a little different this time! Got my hands on a preproduction unit of the brand new EOS R5 for a day and decided to take it to the zoo to test out the 8K and IBIS. Shot 8K in IBP. Took some photos as well. This is not a technical test by any means but I did want to try and see how practical it would be in a real day shoot. Unfortunately made a mistake of shooting 4k 60p for two shots of the monkeys at the end and had to scale it up :( I have noticed some blotching in some clips, mainly in the shadows and I'm not sure why). Files were difficult to handle without transcoding. However, they were extremely sharp and detailed. No colour grading/correction done, just used a C-Log to Rec 709 lut provided by Canon. Also, I know its only 1080 but YouTube won't allow me to upload in 8k :(.
I was shooting under blazing hot sun and unfortunately, I did get the camera to overheat for a few periods. Once the camera overheats, you'll have to wait awhile and it will allow you to shoot 3/5 min depending on how long it's been cooling. You won't be able to record 8K and 4K once it overheats but taking photos and HD will work fine.
Tested the IBIS with an EF 100-400mm, mostly shooting at 400mm. NO post stabilisation applied to make sure it was fair. Once again, this is a preproduction unit so things might change in the full version.
Would I shoot 8k? No. It took way too long to edit and export. However, the 8k timelapse is a feature I would definitely use. I see this camera very useful for stock footage shooters who might need to shoot long form content but rather short bursts of 8k clips. I'll share a video with my thoughts on the R5 and R6 soon! (PS: for photography, this thing is well worth it!)

Still, the Knicks had a chance to force overtime if Johnson could have converted one of his last two 3-point attempts.
An Iverson free throw with 38 seconds to play gave Philadelphia a 98-95 lead. After a timeout, the Knicks went to Patrick Ewing (26 points, 15 rebounds), but he missed a 12-foot jumper.
Charles Oakley grabbed the rebound, and the ball swung over to Johnson, who was wide open from about 25 feet on the left side of the key. Johnson missed.
Oakley rebounded. This time, Johnson found himself open on the right side of the court from 25 feet with about 10 seconds left. He missed again.
''They both felt pretty good,'' said Johnson, who scored a season-high 28 points, but saw the loss ruin his best individual night as a Knick. ''Those shots were open, but we also could have gone for the quick 2 instead of chucking up 3-pointers. If I had another chance, I probably would have moved it inside and looked for the quick 2.''
Iverson chased down the rebound after Johnson's second missed 3-pointer, and Johnson fouled Iverson with 5.4 seconds to play. Iverson made 1 of 2 foul shots, Ewing added a meaningless dunk and Jerry Stackhouse ended the scoring with two foul shots.
When Iverson was not scoring, he was setting up teammates, most notably Stackhouse (28 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds). Iverson and Stackhouse give the Sixers a one-two backcourt punch of the future that looks very good in the present. It was the third consecutive victory for the Sixers (3-3), who also got 16 points from Derrick Coleman and 12 rebounds from Scott Williams. The Knicks never controlled the game, and the Sixers seized the opportunity to steal a road a victory.
