The desperate search for answers is a natural way to seek out stability and control. However, in the face of the global pandemic, there is just so much out of our control, and seeking to find these impossible solutions often leaves us feeling helpless.
人們為尋求穩定與掌控力,自然會不顧一切地尋求答案。然而,面對全球疫情的大流行,有太多事物在我們的掌控之外,而致力於尋求那些無法企及的解方,往往使我們備感無助。

A way out of such helplessness is figuring out what you CANNOT and CAN control. When you are upset about things you have no control over, take a few deep breaths, and be mindful of what's stressing you out.
Then, focus on things WITHIN YOUR CONTROL and work to solve these problems. This will provide you with a sense of agency and reinvigorate you to tackle the next problem. Do not try to solve all your problems at once. Sort them out and break them down. Conquer them one at a time with the smallest task first.
擺脫這道難題的方式,是了解事情的可控與不可控。當你感到不安,先深呼吸,並注意何事帶來壓力。然後,專注在可以掌控的事物上,努力解決問題。這會予你以掌控感,振作起來去解決下個問題。別試圖一次解決所有問題,將問題分類並拆解,從最簡單的問題開始逐一擊破。

ANAMNESIS
“Apart from language and values, what truly connects HongKongers is suffering”, says Brian Leung Kai-ping who stormed Legco on July 1st, 2019.
Anamnesis – the chasm between forgetting and remembering; the perplexity and helplessness when suffering is recalled. Bombarded with an abundance of information every day, there had been simply too much to remember in 2019. While obscure memories struggle to stay, our minds remain blank the next day when we wake up, as if everything were just a – “dream”.
As a sense of hopelessness grows with time, recollecting all the scenes that we saw and the feelings that we had over the past year may do us more harm than good – it’s our instinct to evade misery. Now we are often benumbed by the false sense of peace in the society. Our sensations and throbs are gradually becoming blurry bits and pieces of history in our heads like parallel universes.
This exhibition showcases some out-of-focus images taken last year, presenting histories that may “be disappeared”, while conveying the bewilderment when reminiscence hits hard. How, after all, do we live with our nastiest wounds?

曾於二零一九年七月一日闖進立法會的梁繼平道:
「真正連結香港人嘅,喺語言、價值之外,係痛苦。」。
茫———記,是忘與記之間的鴻溝,是記住痛苦時的茫然無助。在過去每天都被資訊轟炸的一年,要記住的實在太多,記憶在朦朧中掙扎,就如「發完夢」一般 ; 一覺醒來,蒼茫依然。
一年間的場景、感受,隨著時間與無力感累積下來,記得或許會帶來更深的傷害,畢竟我們的本能擅於逃避苦難。活在被「粉飾」的太平之下,很容易便會習慣麻木,然後那些感知與悸動,便慢慢成為腦海中一段模糊的歷史,無數個「平行時空」。
展覽展示過去一年一些離焦的相片,呈現出或許會「被消失」的歷史,及在回憶氾濫之下,茫然回首的困惑,這道血肉模糊的傷疤,
我們該怎麼與它共存呢?

過去這個月每天心情都很沈重。當你每天起來看到的新聞就是多個國家有上千幾百的人死亡,我相信很難會有人可以覺得無所謂。這次疫情讓我體會到人類是平等的,我們沒有一個人能夠因為有什麼先天或者後天的優勢能夠對這次pandemic有免疫力。我們無論是貧弱還是富裕,是政治家還是明星,是平民還是王子,生命都是如此脆弱。😔😔
我目前能做的就是帶著笑容給自己,朋友,和團隊鼓勵。💪🏼💪🏼 我們一起努力熬過這關,我相信能夠活下來的我們到最後會變得更強大更美好。黑暗的時候我們一起撐過去,一起期待光明的時刻。大家加油💪🏼❤️香港加油💪🏼❤️地球人加油💪🏼❤️

It has been a really rough few months for all of us. For the past month, I’ve been living with this overhanging hint of depression and helplessness on my mind. It can be very hard to not let the daily death rates around the globe affect one’s mental state. I don’t think there is anyone of us that would not be affected by the gloomy figures we see every day. One thing for sure that I have come to realise is that we, as the human race, are all equal when faced with this pandemic. Whether you are rich or poor, whether you are a politician or a celebrity, or a commoner or a prince, our lives are so very fragile. 😔😔
To overcome this sense of helplessness, the only thing I can do for now is to keep up with a positive mental attitude. I keep encouraging myself, my friends, and my team that we must be strong and hang in there. We can get through it. For those of us that can ride out this extremely challenging environment will become a better person, a stronger team, and a more efficient organisation. 💪🏼💪🏼
We only live once. I am sure that the recent ban on gatherings of four or more in Hong Kong is putting a huge toll of most people that are cooped up at home. It also came at a really tough time for all entertainment businesses and the food service industry, which were already suffering for months due to lack of tourism and the fight against covid-19. As I sit here I keep asking myself what can I do? Is there anything we can do to help each other? I would love to hear your thoughts and see if there’s anything we can do together to help each other get through these extreme circumstances.

《深秋敍》 穆祥來
作曲家於一則訪問說道:「深秋敍寫的是一種對美的蹂躪、自己又無力去解救的感慨,是對逝去時光的遺憾。」
秋風瑟瑟,紅葉落下、黄花遍地的凄清景色勾起了作曲家對往事的回憶。作品創作於1989年,採用音色沉實醇厚的大笛演奏,樂曲充滿戲劇性的感情變化:時而深沉,時而細膩,時而穩定,時而失控。
你我的人生經歷各不相同,但總會有悲傷之時,而悲傷是藝術的養分!
願以深秋敍往事,一訴各種愛恨情仇。
"Deep Autumn Ballad" composed by Mu Xiang-lai
‘The song is a tribute to the “past” and the “ravaged beauty”,’ the writer once described in an interview. ‘It is filled with sorrow and regret, in addition a sense of helplessness.’
Composed in 1989 for low range dadi (large dizi), the piece features dramatic emotional changes as it is reminiscent of the regrets back in the old days. We probably have different encounters in our lives, yet sadness is certainly one of the things all of us have in common. Sadness inspires art, though. Shall we, by a ballad for the deep autumn, recall the lingering love and hatred we have had?
