Hi, this is Luhmann. It’s a hot day, right? Really hot, (1) . And today I want to share with you the third and the fourth reason why we should compete with ourselves, not compete with others. And the third reason is that if we compete with others, we will lose a lot of (2) . Because we spend so much energy, we spend so much time on examining others’ goal, on doing this research on others’ (3) , and we will lose that creativity to create something which absolutely belongs to us. Take Bill Gates and Steve Jobs for example, when they were in that garage after they dropped out from their college, I don’t think they spend any time (4) others’ products, or doing research on others’ methods, what others are doing, what other company or (5) are doing. No, I don’t think so, and that’s the reason why when their products, when they came out on the (6) , they are suddenly, all of a sudden, a big hit. They were pursued by the people all around the world. Why? Because they spent all their energy, all their time to improve their (7) every day every day. They just try to make their invention to clse to be perfect. The other example is, take my Luhmann’s English for example, I don’t do any research on what others are doing. No. I am not interested in what others are doing. That is the reason why I don’t want my Luhmann’s English, this language learning institute, to called a “ CRAM SCHOOL” I am not interested in (8) any knowledge into any of my students. I don’t do that. I don’t think that any knowledge which is crammed into the brain can (9) there for a long time. OK if I follow others’ path, then you know what I will do every day. I will just try to improve or (10) my skill of cramming. And I think it is absolutely a (11) of my lifetime. So I just focus on finding all kinds of measures or resorts to (12) my students, to make them really interested in learning this language. So I think that can make my institute (13) , and that’s exactly the reason why this institute (14) .
The fourth reason is that if we compete with ourselves, we can truly understand ourselves. And there is a saying saying an enemy, who is the true enemy? Yourself, ourselves, we, ourselves, we are our true (15) , if we compete with ourselves, challenge ourselves, we are dealing this true enemy, and if you compete with others, no no no, they are not enemy. And in the end, you will not know, or understand this true enemy inside the (16) of your heart. So if you compete with yourself, challenge yourself, examining yourself every day, we can know this real enemy very much, and in the end, you can completely (17) this enemy. Wow, on that day, you can do anything, anything you want to. And besides, to understand yourself, understand oneself, this is one of the most important things for anyone who wants to be successful. Because only by understanding ourselves can we truly know what we really want at this moment, maybe maybe a few years later when we understand us (18) , we may (19) our goal, but it’s OK. Because people like to follow the people who lead. They don’t like to follow the people who are (20) . So by truly understand ourselves, we can know what we really want, then we can set our own goal, and we can (21) that goal, and then we are led by ourselves, right? If you just compete with others, this is not (22) at all. There is no (23) in it.
