I’m very particular when comes to food/ ingredients/ sauces I used. Like Dark Soy Sauce, some brands are too diluted n salty. I prefer it thick n slightly bitter n definitely less salt. Same goes to Tom Yum paste too! The paste must be fragrant n less salty n tasted like real Tomyum!

Then Bae commented, the world has evolved. People are getting everything from kitchen to gadgets online, what else is not available on the platform? 緊張することを意味する「Anxious」と「Nervous」の違い

「あ～緊張する！」と言う際、ネイティブは「Anxious」や「Nervous」を使って表現しますが、どのように使い分けているか皆さんはご存知ですか？今回は、両者の違いと使い分けについて分かりやすく解説したいと思います。

1) Nervous
→「緊張する」
--------------------------------------------------
　
Nervousは神経を意味するnerveの派生語であり、神経が高ぶる（＝緊張）場合に用います。Nervousは「緊張」全般を意味する言葉で、大勢の前で喋る前や試験前、ジェットーコースターに乗る前や応援しているチームが接戦で勝敗の予測がつかない場合などのドキドキ感を表します。また、少し古い言い方ですが、神経質や臆病者のことを”Nervous Nellie”と言うこともあります。ネリー（女性の名前）を使っている理由は、単純に両方Nで始まるからです。
　
✔あまりにも緊張・心配していて気が休まらない人を「Nervous wreck」と言う。
　
✔「神経衰弱にかかる」ことを「Have a nervous breakdown」と表す。
　
＜例文＞
　
My fiancé was so nervous when he proposed, he dropped the ring!
（プロポーズする時、彼ったら緊張のあまり、指輪を落としてしまったのよ！）
　
Do you think she’ll make the shot? I’m so nervous.
（彼女、シュートを決めるかな。ドキドキするー！）
　
She’s such a nervous Nellie when it comes to leaving her poodle home alone.
（あの子、飼い犬のプードルちゃんを留守番させることにすごい神経質よね。）
　
I did a presentation in English today. I was a nervous wreck.

2) Anxious
→「緊張する・心配する」

Anxiousは、「不安」を意味するanxietyから来る言葉であり、心配や懸念、気がかりである場合に使います。この表現は心配を含む緊張の場合に使うことが多く、単純な緊張の場合は、上記のNervousを使う方が多いです。Anxiousにはあまりにも緊張や心配をし過ぎてジッとしていられず、胸騒ぎがしたり、貧乏ゆすりしたり、そわそわと行ったり来たりするなど、様々な身体症状が起こることがあります。

また、「I'm anxious to learn the results of the test. （試験の結果を早く知りたい）」など「結果待ちの緊張感から早く逃れたい」場合にも使えます。例えば、長年片思いをしていた女性と、5年ぶりに再会するとしましょう。そんな時に「I'm anxious to see her.」が使われ、彼女に会うことをすごく不安に思い緊張している反面、早く会いたい気持ちが混ざりあっているニュアンスになります。
　
✔心配の気持ちが含まれる、「ネガティブな」緊張を指す。
　
✔最近、アメリカ人の日常会話では「〜が待ちきれない」「〜と会うのが楽しみ」のように、ポジティブな緊張感を表す際、anxiousが使われるようになってきている。定義上、このような状況ではeagerやexcitedを使うのが適切。Eagerは楽しみで待ちきれないポジティブな緊張感のニュアンスがあるのに対し、anxiousは心配の気持ちでいっぱいのネガティブな緊張感を表す。しかし、時代と共に言葉の意味と使い方が変化していく中、日常会話で「ポジティブな緊張感」を表現する時でもanxiousが使われるようになってきた。
　
＜例文＞
　
The interview didn’t go well and I’m anxious about the result.
（面接が上手くいかず、結果が心配だ。）
　
I'm pretty anxious about moving abroad. What if I don't make any friends?
（海外へ引っ越すのってかなり緊張するよ。友達とかできなかったらどうしよう。）
　
I’m anxious to find out if we’re having a boy or a girl.

Anxiety with Grooming: Our Old English Sheepdog, Riley, has SEVERE anxiety when it comes to grooming. His vet prescribed him an anxiety medication that relaxes his muscles but still keeps him awake. He usually remains calm and tired for the next 6 hours. We give him this 1 hour before his groomer arrives to our house to groom him. We've noticed that it works and his grooming sessions have been more calm and relaxing! If you are not comfortable with anxiety medication for your dog, please also try CBD treats or oils recommended by your vet. We have found that CBD treats and oils don't work for Riley but it works for Casper and Rocky who experience separation anxiety.

Japanese radish (non-spicy) recipe is the perfect compliment to any dish because it's salty-sweet, sour, and crunchy.

Use fresh Daikon when preparing pickles. I used purple Daikon which my daughter grew at kindergarten. You can use regular white Daikon radish, too.

You can keep it in the fridge for a week 😉

Japanese Pickled Daikon Radish (Tsukemono)

Difficulty: Easy
Time: 10min
Number of servings: N/A

Ingredients:
250g (9oz.) Daikon radish
2 tbsp. vinegar
1 tbsp. sugar
salt
1.5inch (5cm) Kombu kelp https://amzn.to/3sUAEpR

Directions:
1. Wash and cut Daikon (with skin is ok) into 1/2 or 1/4 slices. Rub with 1/2 tsp. salt and leave for 20 min. Rinse and drain well.
2. In a sauce pan or microwave, heat vinegar, sugar and a pinch of salt mixture until it comes to a boil.
3. Wipe and clean dirts from Kombu kelp.
4. Put all the ingredients in a Ziploc bag and keep in the fridge overnight or more.
