INSPIRATION
裝飾立燈 "Calla Noir" ,為文龍文化藝術基金會所資助 "re-Inspired Synthesis"計畫成果,為了回應計畫目標「探索新的3D列印技術以達到最終產品的品質」,設計在單層列印的燈罩上,利用控制多種熔融沉積3D列印技術 (Fused Deposition Model- ing,FDM) 製程機制的參數並融合列印材料的特色,在表面上的產生獨特的花紋透 過燈光產生多樣的變化。"Calla Noir" 展示3D列印成果在無需後加工的形況下作為 最終成品的潛力。
In response to project’s initiative to explore new 3D printing methods for end-prod- uct manufacturing, a single-layer printed lampshade was designed utilizing the various control mechanisms of the 3D printing FDM process to blend the printing material and generate a surface pattern that varies through the changing of light. Calla Noir, demonstrates the potential for 3D printed results as final finished product without additional post-processing.

近130公分高的"CallaNoir"是以大型三角洲式列印機所印製而成。在產業夥伴 CHIMEI | 3D 列印事業部與 Linkin Factory | PING協助下,我們才得以在"Calla Noir" 中再次挑戰大型列印3D列印作品,這個在過去幾年台灣3D列印產業環境下不易逾越的障礙。
Using manufacturing techniques
The decorative floor lamp Calla Noir, at nearly 130cm tall, was printed on a large-scale delta style printer. With the help of new performance materials from MODEX 3D filaments and our fabrication partners at Linkin Factory, we were able to achieve in Calla Noir, what just three years ago, seemed like an insurmountable task in 3D printing.
DESIGN FLOW
為忠實呈現熔融沉積3D列印技術獨有的製程特色, "Calla Noir" 的燈罩透過編程機器列印參數創造出獨特的花紋,這個設計策略除了考量外觀 / 燈光設計及緩和現行熔融沉積3D列印常有的"缺陷"外,亦將相關特性加以控制轉化成設計元素以此達到最終產品的質感,希冀此作品能夠打破大眾普遍對於3D列印技術僅能作為設計原型的既定印象。
unique to the FDM 3D printing process, "Calla Noir" expresses the coded computational movements of the machine in the pattern and finish of the printed shell. This alleviates the "problems" of FDM printed works and changes our perception of this technology from prototyping to finished product.

In the rain filled summer months here in Taiwan, sKY_Associative has had the great pleasure to collaborate with MODEX 3DP Filament and Linkin Factory聯合工廠 to develop the 3D printed design products "Twirls" and "Calla Noir".
Now, in the third year of the "re-Inspired" series of projects funded by the Wen Long Cultural Arts Foundation, this year's "re-Inspired Synthesis" project, evolves from design education and design prototyping to design product. These projects push the boundaries of current additive manufacturing technology, transitioning skills and techniques acquired in previous years to bring FDM 3D printing technology to final design “product”.
For those who were not able to see the work on exhibition at the 2018 台灣設計展 Taiwan Design Expo or the 2018 3D Printing Taiwan 台灣3D列印展, here are some photos of the project works.
