MIA Restaurant is one culinary space to behold. Located in a quite street in Sukhumvit 26, stands a modestly sized blue and white house, inside this house, a split level floor. Below a dimly lit bar and eatery. Upstairs boasts multiple themed rooms that create different sets of ambience. Each one boasting a quiet or loud extravagance in its own way, which leads us to the dining experience.
The Chefs at MIA have risen to the challenge of adapting the cuisine to pair with the space/s. Downstairs you'll find their friendly a la carte signature menu; fun to eat, easy to share, tasty and rich. A perfect match to their bespoke cocktails.
Whilst upstairs the chef couple have composed a 'fine dining' menu. The first bites arrive, beautifully crafted if heavily constructed and rather filling prior to a fulfilling course. The Mushroom Chawanmushi, Truffle Reduction, Swiss Brown with wild rice revealed more of Chef Top's technical French touch and appreciation of the simplicity of fine product, extracting sublime flavours of the earth.
Although, the salt baked beetroot, Smoked Yogurt came as quite of a shock, frosted and sweet and a litte out of its element when proceeding the mushroom. The Hake however, was a revelation, along with the Fennel & Lychee Sorbet by Chef Michelle. We loved how confident and bold they were without any excessive glitz or glamour.
These two dishes we believed most embodies strong personalities, sophistication in skill, and will be the dishes we will be talking about for quite some time. There is clearly a great amount of talent to be unearthed here, rub off some of the sheen, and the bright light will burst through, quite easily and naturally.
