Here are some fun facts about Kota Kinabalu:
⛰ The city is named after Mount Kinabalu, which is around 55 kilometers away and can be seen on a clear day.
🔥 Kota Kinabalu was called Api Api in the past. It is unknown why exactly, but the Chinese still fondly call the city "Api" (亚庇).
💥 Although the British first settled here in 1882, Kota Kinabalu (then called Jesselton) was mostly destroyed by bombs during World War II. Atkinson Clock Tower is one of the few buildings that survived the war.
🏞 There is a very narrow strip of land between the hills and the sea. So most of downtown Kota Kinabalu is built on reclaimed land.
🇲🇾 Kota Kinabalu is one of the most ethnically diverse cities in Malaysia. No ethnic group exceeds 25% of the total population.

I centered the big idea around friendship, and thought about my memorable experiences with friends. That is when I came up with the wonderland design, made up of all the things we love and miss doing, from hanging out to just being outdoors together. This piece illustrates the adventures I’d love to go on with my friends once we can travel.
Although the day is beautiful, the mural at night also has a hidden surprise. Picture life together and the magic happens. When two ride on the bicycle together, the mural comes alive and lights up. The Sun will set and the Moon will be out with unicorns and stars lighting up one after the other. This was created to bring friends closer and create exciting memories together.
As we are stepping further into the new normal, I wish for people to connect, and continue capturing special moments, creating memories with their friends that will bring them closer to one another.

Lepas dah jalan-jalan tu perut pun lapar, singgah ke Sehzade Cag Kebap. Dekat je dari Hagia Sophia tu. Jalan kaki 20 minit. Kebap kat sini memang RARE beb. Biasa kita tengok kebab jenis menegak ke atas, bentuk macam Cobra tu kan. Yang ni jenis melintang dan dibakar guna kayu arang! Itu yang buat sedap tu beb!
