Taiwan boasts the highest ratio of scooters per capita on the planet. A country of 23 million people, Taiwan boasts nearly 14 million scooters, which means 6 people out of 10 own a scooter.
With Taiwan possessing the highest density of scooters, the amount of scooter emissions that cause air pollution is a serious concern.
AppWorks Accelerator #12 participant WeMo Scooter, Asia’s first electric scooter-sharing company, was founded by Jeffrey Wu 3 years ago to encourage the public to choose shared e-scooters for their daily use. By doing this, it not only helps to reduce the emissions, but the service itself also makes our life a lot easier.
Scooter sharing drivers save money for other daily living expenses by using the scooters to save the cost of parking fees, maintenance fees, insurance and fuel.
Just a couple days ago, WeMo Scooters celebrated their 3 year anniversary. They started from Taipei City to New Taipei City and even expanded to Kaohsiung City, with a total of 5 thousand e-scooters, more than 5 million trips made, and nearly 30 thousand members. In 2020, WeMo Scooter is expecting to increase their e-scooters to 1.5 thousand, owning 2 thousand WeMo Scooter-only parking spots. It's expected to have 60 thousand members. Other than the numbers, WeMo Scooters also upgraded their APP with AI.
