#Editorial by AppleDailyHK | "The new electoral system, “improved” by Beijing, means all candidates have to be reviewed by the department for safeguarding national security of the Police Force and the Committee for Safeguarding National Security, then checked by the Candidate Eligibility Review Committee to ensure that the candidate is a patriot who loves the Party, the motherland and Hong Kong. In addition, the candidate needs to receive a unanimous nomination from the five sectors of the Election Committee, which has 1,500 members, before being accepted as “one of them” and able to join the election. Any opposition, loyal or not, has no chance to pass the selection process, never mind to win the election. The citizens are already uninterested in this so-called election. If even the right to cast a blank vote as protest has been removed, it will be, as Professor Johannes Chan said, “the election has been improved, but no one goes to vote,” an embarrassing scenario. The situation has come to this. It seems the “Law of Silent Resentment” will be inevitable."

The first photo is the product of a camera with beauty mode
The second one is an original image of a normal camera
“Cheating” is usually the word for this kind of situations but these two photos are simply images to me.
.
If the aim is to create a stunning photograph, then the selection of background, model and editing are just the means to achieve this goal.
Some people insisted “editing is cheating”
Or some joke “isn’t it a fraud?”
The aim here is never how real the image is but to create a beautiful one.
(It’s about the degree of editing, though I prefer stay closer to the real)
.
I got doubts suddenly cast upon the so-called “real” in my mind.
If editing is cheating, is getting a good angle cheating too?
If make up is cheating, is skin care cheating too?
If plastic surgery is cheating, is working out and keeping fit cheating too?
.
They are unanimous and without differences.
All are real.
Going to great lengths to call someone is cheating and unreal in essence, probably just soar grapes.
Maybe all are unreal.
When we trace back to being a embryo and to the deepest of our souls, we are all kids of the great universe.

Pyongyang, June 13 (KCNA) -- Kim Yo Jong, first vice department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, released the following statement on Saturday:
I fully sympathize with the statement released by the director of the United Front Department of the Central Committee of the WPK yesterday.
If the south Korean authorities have now capability and courage to carry out at once the thing they have failed to do for the past two years, why are the north-south relations still in stalemate like now?
We should not lend an ear to and trust the trite language let out by them for only form's sake as they always make a fuss belatedly, nor pardon the sins committed by the betrayers and human scum.
Getting stronger day by day are the unanimous voices of all our people demanding for surely settling accounts with the riff-raff who dared hurt the absolute prestige of our Supreme Leader representing our country and its great dignity and flied rubbish to the inviolable territory of our side and with those who connived at such hooliganism, whatever may happen.
The judgment that we should force the betrayers and human scum to pay the dearest price for their crimes and the retaliatory action plans we have made on this basis have become a firm public opinion at home, not part of the work of the field in charge of the affairs with enemy.
It is necessary to make them keenly feel what they have done and what inviolability they hurt amiss.
It is better to take a series of retaliatory actions, instead of releasing this kind of statement, which those with bad ears may miscalculate as the "one for threatening" or from which they can make any rubbishy comments on our intention as they please.
I feel it is high time to surely break with the south Korean authorities.
We will soon take a next action.
By exercising my power authorized by the Supreme Leader, our Party and the state, I gave an instruction to the arms of the department in charge of the affairs with enemy to decisively carry out the next action.
Before long, a tragic scene of the useless north-south joint liaison office completely collapsed would be seen.
If I drop a hint of our next plan the south Korean authorities are anxious about, the right to taking the next action against the enemy will be entrusted to the General Staff of our army.
Our army, too, will determine something for cooling down our people's resentment and surely carry out it, I believe.
Rubbish must be thrown into dustbin. -0-

In this new video by Stuart Cooper we get a look into the mind of UFC Vet Patrick Côté. Patrick is a Canadian mixed martial artist who currently fights as a Welterweight in the UFC, compiling a record of 6-7 in 13 appearances for the organization, and has also fought at Light Heavyweight and Middleweight. He is the former MFC Middleweight Champion, TKO Middleweight Champion, TKO Light Heavyweight Champion, and has also fought in King of the Cage. Côté made his UFC debut in 2004 at UFC 50 against Tito Ortiz. Côté accepted the fight on just four days' notice when Lion's Den veteran Guy Mezger pulled out of the main event due to an injury. He said to Ortiz before the fight that, if he thought Chuck Liddell hit hard, he hit harder. Côté lost via unanimous decision; however, he impressed UFC officials by not being submitted or knocked out by Ortiz and displaying toughness and willingness to take the fight on short notice.
Côté returned to the octagon in 2005 losing his next two fights to Joe Doerksen and Chris Leben. In 2006, Côté was a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter: The Comeback, defeating Jorge Rivera and Edwin Dewees in exhibition matches. He advanced to the finale, where he lost by first round submission to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighter Travis Lutter at The Ultimate Fighter 4 Finale in a non-exhibition match. This loss brought Côté's official UFC record to 0--4. Three months later Côté earned his first win in the UFC at UFC 67, defeating TUF4 teammate Scott Smith by unanimous decision. In August 2007, he defeated TUF3 winner Kendall Grove at UFC 74 via TKO in the first round. Côté then fought Drew McFedries at UFC Fight Night, winning in the first round via TKO after catching McFedries with a counter punch. Côté extended his UFC win streak to four fights at UFC 86 by defeating Ricardo Almeida via split decision, also earning him a title shot.
Côté faced UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva on October 25, 2008 at UFC 90. Silva won the first 2 rounds but Côté proved how good his chin was by taking a roundhouse kick and flying knee right on the button without getting rocked in the very first round. In the third round, Côté's movement inside the octagon caused too much pressure on the back of his right leg (which he was using to move forward) and an injury caused him to fall to the mat grasping his right knee in pain. Referee Herb Dean declared the fight over when Côté could not continue, ruling the bout a TKO victory for Silva. Côté, however, became the first of Silva's UFC opponents to make it into the third round.
On January 25, 2009, while taking time off for his surgically repaired knee, Patrick said during an interview with MMA Mania that if he gets a rematch with Anderson Silva he is confident that he will beat him.

The tale of three women's struggle for justice and equalityby Indrani Kopal | 12:05PM May 24, 2012
Guppy Union was started by women workers who worked in a plastics factory in Balakong, Cheras.
Their struggle and desire to start a union started 14 years ago, when they were frustrated with their bosses for increasing their wages by a mere 10 sen.
The workers then decided to get organised to protect their interests.
The first meeting to establish a pro-tem committee was held on Nov 16, 1997.
After much hassle, the government approved the Guppy Industries Workers Union on April 2, 1998, led by a seven-member committee with Koyil Vani Saminathan as chairperson.
However, Guppy refused to recognise the union unless three-quarters of the workers joined the union, including those in the branch in Prai, Penang.
The union committee and members were left frustrated as they had not been aware of the Prai operations.
Still, the three main office-bearers - Koyil Vani Saminathan, secretary Roshamiza Muhamamd and treasurer Kanniamah Annasamy - headed for Prai to recruit members.
In spite of numerous threats, negative propaganda and dirty tricks by the factory owners to deter union activities, they were able to slowly add to the membership.
On May 30, 1998, however, the management suspended all the committee members and then sacked Koyil Vani, Roshamiza, who had worked for the company since April 1993, and Kanniamah, an employee since July 1991.
However, the 200 union members re-elected Koyil Vani as their chairperson up to 2008.
The union continued to function under the able leadership of vice-chairperson Rahiman Mansor and assistant treasurer S Visaletchumy. But on Aug 25, 2001, they were suspended and eventually sacked.
Guppy Plastic Industries rejected all attempts by Industrial Relations officers to reinstate the workers or to agree to resolve any of the disputes referred by the union.
In September 1998, the matter was referred to the Industrial Court. In May 2006, the union lost the case, but took it to the High Court two months later. In 2009, victory was theirs.
However, the unhappy company appealed in October 2011, leading to a verdict in its favour on Feb 21, 2012.
Under Koyil Vani, the union had also championed a gender discrimination case for 11 years against the management. --
In June 2001, 30 women workers above the age of 50 were forced to retire after a new handbook of employment regulations was introduced by the company, in which the retirement age was stipulated.
Eight of them filed a complaint with the Industrial Court. In 2008, it decided in their favour, finding that the difference in retirement age constitutes gender discrimination.
Guppy Plastic Industries sought a review and in 2010, the High Court overturned the decision.
The eight then filed an appeal, but this was dismissed by the Court of Appeal on March 21, 2012 in a unanimous decision by a three-member bench.
Justice KN Segara said the company was merely following its own employment regulations and that it is the industry norm to have different retirement ages.
For 14 years, these women had battled double oppression, for being women and for being a union member, in a country that is signatory to the UN Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women.
This is their story.
