美國大陸將會出現一次跨越14個州的日全食！這次日全食由香港時間8月21日23:47開始，會歷時5個多小時。日全食會橫跨美國中心區域，從西北岸的俄勒岡州（Oregon）到東南岸的南卡羅來納州（South Carolina ）。依觀測地點不同，日全食時間略有不同。
全球下次看見日全食的時間為2019年7月2日，全食帶會通過西太平洋、智利及阿根廷。而香港下次要看見日全食則要等到2881年了。
