Advance the Gospel in the Way that God Leads you
“Jesus came to them and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I commanded you. Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.” (Matthew 28:18-20 WEB)
Jesus was not just commissioning the apostles to preach the Gospel. It is obvious because the twelve did not manage to reach all the nations in their lifetime. This commission is for every believer throughout time. The words which Jesus spoke in the passage above are know as “The Great Commission”.
I am so glad that Jesus did not just give a command and leave us scratching our heads on how to fulfill it. He sandwiched the command between two statements of provision.
Firstly, Jesus used all the authority He had to give us authority to preach the Gospel so that people from all nations would be saved.
Then, at the end of the passage, He assured us of His ever-abiding presence with us.
We are not trying to preach the Gospel by our own strength and eloquence. We have Jesus’ authority which allows us to access God’s power for confirming signs and wonders to back up our message. Additionally, Jesus is with us through His Spirit, to empower us to preach, and to teach us what to say or do.
Although every Christian is sent to preach the Gospel, relatively few are called to preach from stage. Most do not. When the words “preach” or “ministry” are used, don’t limit your imagination to some person in a suit preaching from the stage to a huge crowd.
There may be Christians led by the Spirit to start a soup kitchen where they feed the poor and share the love of Christ by their actions.
Other Christians are led to buy gifts and hand them out to the people they know. The gifts may contain a handwritten note, saying things like, “I know you’re going through a tough time, but I am praying that God will surely help and restore you. The Lord Jesus loves you with an everlasting love!”
There are so many ways to minister the Gospel to others. The Holy Spirit knows all the ways, and He matches you with a certain way that fits you. That is why it is pointless to compare yourself with others.
I first learnt about Pastor Joseph Prince and New Creation Church because my friend and business associate handed me the book “Destined to Reign”.
I remember I was sitting on a coach in Las Vegas, USA, on the way to see the Grand Canyon. The book was my good companion during the journey, and I was absolutely mind-blown by Pastor’s sharing of the true Gospel. The chains of legalism and performance-based salvation fell off, and the sweet love of God flooded my heart.
After that vacation, I invited myself to that business associate’s church (NCC), determined to heard more Gospel truths from Pastor Prince in person. You see, this Christian lady’s ministry looked different from a pastor preaching on stage. She handed out books that she bought, and these acts of friendliness and generosity planted seeds of the Gospel in people’s hearts, producing a powerful ripple effect that blessed many.
You are uniquely designed by God. Your calling is also tailor-made for you. No one can do it better because you have a unique set of life experiences, relationships, gifts, and knowledge to reach a niche crowd of the unsaved.
Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you and give you opportunities to share the Gospel in the way that He wants you to.
Even if you are not good with words, and you consider yourself antisocial, if you are good at earning lots of money, then give towards ministries that preach the true Gospel which is the Grace of Christ. This is why God blessed you with wealth and the power to get it. Your giving enables ministries to reach more people with the Gospel and plant more seeds for salvation.
This Facebook page, “Milton Goh Blog and Sermon Notes” is one of the platforms from which I minister the Gospel. I started it in July 2014, when I was on vacation with my ex-girlfriend (who is my current wife), in Gold Coast, Australia. In the cold hotel room, I suddenly felt led to start the page on my laptop, and to sharing my writings with people around the world. Never did I imagine that this page would one day have 42k likes and over 200k people reached with the Gospel twice daily each month.
Help this ministry to further fulfill its mission of “Reach More, Teach More”. In these end times, every second is precious. If you want to partner with us to win souls, and also share in the eternal rewards, join us as a patron on Patreon. “God Every Morning” tier and above patrons also receive daily devotionals by email, daily themed Bible Study teachings in the patron WhatsApp chat group, and all my eBooks. I'm a private tutor. I run a small tuition centre. After deducting rent, marketing & administrative costs - I take home around $2500 a month. I teach more than 10 classes weekly.
It has been a very demoralising few weeks.
1. Amidst the suspension of centre-based tuition classes - parents have asked for discount on fees. I tried to help whenever I can by waiving off fees or giving discounts, knowing fully that it will be at my own expense.
Yet, I've received a lot of comments from parents who do not have financial difficulties, going "e-learning should be cheaper".
e-Learning IS not cheaper than classroom based learning. It has been 2 sleepless weeks with this mad scramble to move classes online. We've had to to spend sessions doing orientation for you and your children to help explain how to do classes online. We had to buy IT equipment, video recording equipment - all of it not cheap with my measly $2500 monthly salary.
You think it's less effort - it's not. It's more effort and more work. And you want to pay us less.
Please don't undermine our efforts by requesting to pay us less. If you have financial difficulties, we will discount for you. But don't say "e-Learning should be paid less". Thanks.
Rental still goes on - landlords who don't take the initiative to help and pass on rental rebates, I'm looking at YOU!
2. We totally understand that why we have been closed down. Health comes first - sure.
However, can don't call us non-essential?
School is essential, tuition is non-essential. Minister said that. True facts of life.
But, but. Can you also see this.
In every sector, there are good people and there are bad people.
In the tuition sector, there are some of us good ones and some of us bad ones.
I dare say, I care about each and every-one of my students. I do my best to motivate. I do my best to talk to them when they have family troubles. I come up with extra worksheets when I know they are lagging behind.
In schools, you also have teachers who are not motivated, who only come to school for the paycheck and do the minimum.
If all school teachers are good - need tuition teachers for what?
If everybody scoring A1, A2 and A* - then no need for tuition. Some parents find tuition because their kids have been failing.
We don't need you to recognise us. But don't call us non-essential can?
3. Common comment from school teachers and from the public - "They should pay school teachers more" or "Tuition teachers make so much money".
You know how many times I roll my eyes at this?
Straits Times - I'm looking at you. Thanks for always reporting on "million dollar" tutors. Now everybody thinks that all tutors make millions.
Reality check - If you are a school teacher and you think you will make a lot of money leaving the public sector, feel free to go try your luck.
Is every school teacher a Principal? or a Cluster Superintendent? or a Director? No right?
Same thing with the private sector ok? The top tutors make a lot of money. The normal tutors like us make close to the 'median' $4600 of the typical Singaporean.
We don't have CPF.
We don't have AWS.
We don't have performance bonus.
In November & December, we eat bread but still pay rent.
Whatever we earn in 10 months, must ration across 12 months, because November & December parents go holiday and don't want tuition.
No - regular tutors don't make millions.
Stop dreaming. Most school teachers are not zai. If they leave the public sector, they will eat grass.
I make $2500 a month - if you feel that is fantastic, you can be my guest. You have a choice. If you think you can make more as a private tutor, take the plunge into the world of the unknown.
4. Teachers got a lot of admin work, not like private tutor only need to teach
We don't have admin work. We have "admin work" - marketing, accounting & trying to keep the business alive. We don't only teach.
You have a 'clear thick' line between yourself and parents. We don't. We are obligated to answer, and talk to parents everyday. Do you know there are parents who call us and talk to us everyday about their kids and their anxieties? (a lot of parents from top schools are actually very anxious about their kids) I spend 1 to 2 hours daily talking to 2 to 3 parents everyday.
5. Thank you for classifying us together with KTVs, Bars & Entertainment
I called the bank to lower my credit card interest because in anticipation of school closures, I invested heavily in video recording equipment and IT equipment that I actually cannot pay for with my measly salary.
Guess what the bank said? You are not from an eligible 'adversely affected' sector.
Adversely affected = tourism, aviation, F&B and entertainment.
Entertainment qualifies but private education doesn't qualify.
Again, i understand why we have been shut down. But can everyone remember us private tutors have families to feed too? Mortgages or rent to pay? Bills to pay?
6. We are human beings too
We have feelings. We have empathy. We have tried to help whenever we can. My tuition centre offers free tuition all these years to whomever are on MOE Financial Assistance scheme. When parents face difficulties (retrenched, fell sick), we always cut our fees or give free. When students ask for extra help, we coach and we don't charge extra.
We are trying our best too. Really. We are all in this together.
I don't know since when being a 'private tutor' is a nasty thing.
Maybe tuition centres like Learning Lab, Mavis Tutorial or any of those big tuition centres with big MRT and bus adverts and sprawling land space of more than 10000 square feet might make millions of dollars a year. Maybe they have strong investors with hundreds of millions. But hey that's not us. Don't assume that we have a mountain of profits to stomach this because we don't.
Also, a lot of our kids and a lot of our parents always tell us that school teachers always say bad things about private tutors. "Tuition is a waste of money", "don't need go for tuition", "private tutors are not qualified and don't know what they are teaching".
Some teachers seem to spend a lot of time bad-mouthing private tutors.
Just focus on teaching your kids please. You still have a job.
I may not have one when the dust settles.
Also, remember that a lot of us private tutors were once school teachers.
Some of us left because of school mergers.
Some of us left because we were pregnant, had kids and could no longer cope.
Some of us left because we don't want to deal with this crap called EPMS.
Some of us left because we don't want to deal with all the politics, committees, organising overseas trips and want to just focus on the kids.
Please support your tutors, thank you. A lot of us, really do care, genuinely for your child.

ATTENTION SEEKING KID – KEOW WEE LOONG
writing & imagery by:
ARKADIUSZ PODNIESIŃSKI
18 lipca, 2016
People interested in Fukushima have almost certainly heard of the ‘sensational’ post by Keow Wee Loong, a 28-year-old man from Malaysia who claims that he travelled illegally around Fukushima’s ‘no-go’ zones. It turns out, however, that his story is almost completely fabricated. Unfortunately, the story by this man, who hid his face behind a gas mask, was so convincing that people swallowed it whole and it rapidly spread around the world. His story and photos were published in on reputable services like TIME, CNN and hundreds of others. And, as the author himself admits, he gave 34 interviews in a single day. The entire story of his trip through the no-go zones, sneaking through the forest and avoiding the police is a fiction by a man seeking fame and attention, as opposed to the real popularity that he undoubtedly generated.

Keow Wee Loong’s story strongly recalls the story of Elena Filatova, a.k.a. ‘the Kidd of Speed’. This young woman claimed to have made an illegal solo motorcycle trip through the closed, radioactive zone in Chernobyl and hid her face under a motorcycle helmet. In reality, she never drove her motorcycle through the closed zone and all of her photographs were taken outside the zone or during a tourist coach trip, which she went on dressed in motorcycle gear and a helmet.
Keow Wee Loong’s story is similar. Besides having deliberately created a sensational text and portrait photographs depicting him alone in a gas mask with a shopping basket in hand, it quickly became clear that, in principle, his entire text is dishonest, his trip to the no-go zones untrue and the photographs were taken in areas that everyone can access.
I have visited Fukushima many times to document the destruction caused by the disaster at the nuclear power plant, and so I did not have any major problems identifying the sites where Keow Wee Loong took his photographs. It quickly turned out that all of the photos he took were not taken in the red no-go zones as he claimed, but only in the open green zone (sometimes orange) as well as on Road No. 6, which runs through the Fukushima prefecture. All of these places are open and accessible to all.
Keow-Wee-Loong-map
Map with the locations of places where Keow Wee Loong took his photographs. In order to prevent similar behaviour, the locations of some places are approximate.
The green zone in the town of Namie, where the photographer took most of his pictures, have had this status for at least three years and have been open to all since 1 April of this year. In Tomioka, where Keow Wee Loong also took photographs, these zones were open even earlier. Anyone who wished could enter them freely already a few years ago.
Today, the streets of Namie and Tomioka are full of cars and people, which one cannot fail to notice. In Namie, there is a working police station, a petrol station and the first shops have been open. One can also see a lot of repair crews on the streets of Namie and Tomioka, as well as increasing numbers of curious tourists. Radiation in the centre of Namie is approximately 0.1 uSv/h, and is therefore normal; it does not differ from most other cities in Japan and around the world. One doesn’t need a gas mask there, much less a full-face one. It isn’t necessary to hide from the police or hike through the woods for hours to get to Namie or Tomioka. Anyone who wants to can go there without permission.
Only access to the most contaminated zones, referred to as red or no-go zones, located closest to the power plant and contaminated from the radioactive fallout require a special permit. Contrary to the claims of Keow Wee Loong, he never managed to get to these places. Legally or not. Contrary to what he says, a permit can be obtained in just a week – you just have to demonstrate and justify an important public interest. Evidently, however, Keow Wee Long could not justify any public interest.
Why am I writing about all of this?
My interest is not to trivialise the catastrophic consequences of the failures of nuclear power plants. When I was 14 years old, I had to drink liquid iodine, which would help stop the absorption of the radioactive iodine isotope coming from the damaged reactor in Chernobyl. For these and other reasons, I have devoted the last 8 years to the subject of Chernobyl (I have been there dozens of times), as well as with the subject of Fukushima from the moment the disaster in Japan happened (I have visited 4 times in the past year, spending more than a month in total there). During this time, I have seen the effects of nuclear disasters enough to be opposed to this form of energy production.
I am, however, a strong opponent of seeking sensationalism, 15 minutes of fame and the money that comes with it, which has become synonymous for me with Keow Wee Loong. Photographers and writers of unreliable and inaccurate texts, which are then replicated by hundreds of media outlets around the world, create a false picture of the current situation in Fukushima. This is particularly important here as, in contrast to Chernobyl, the consequences of the disaster are still fresh and painful. To date, nearly 100,000 evacuees are still out of their homes. Many of them are following the progress of the disaster recovery works and often base their decision to return (or not) on media reports.
I think that the international community, Japanese society and, above all, the evacuated residents should have reliable information about the places where they once lived and where I hope they will shortly be able to return.

P.S. I only very rarely ask for my articles to be shared. This is an exception because it’s really important. Share it!

Description:
Our body always tells us the truth, and our mind, the great trickster, on the contrary, always fools us, controls us, confuses us, play with us. So, it is very important to challenge our thoughts, our beliefs, whether they are serving us or tricking us, whether they are the truth or just some facts.
Why do we believe what we believe? What do you believe about money? Work? Your body? Relationships? Who told us? Is it the truth when everyone is saying "it" to you? That are our questions.
Angela Spaxman, Canadian, a former Forrest Engineer, came to Hong Kong two decades ago, one of most pioneering and respectable Coaches in Hong Kong, now a Senior Personal & Corporate Coach. Being a coach, a trainer, a teacher, we actually really interested in ourselves, in our mindset. Lately, first time in my life, at the age of 50+, I got Eczema 10 times in three months, while Angela got back pain, shoulder pain and legs pain in various times, seriously enough to draw attention to ourselves, our bodies, our believes.
We have to ask ourselves, what is really going on? What are the emotions we haven't expressed? Anger? Guilt? Sadness? What are the real issues? Angela will share her insights on what to believe, and what not; and how she treated her back pain and other pain, without too much drama, and visiting doctors. Also, she shared some very interesting and powerful story, to help us understand the Power of Our Mind. Thanks for watching.
