In lieu of Ramadan month, posting this up because don’t us Malaysians miss going to Ramadan markets to jalan-jalan while we munch on our apams? Happy buka puasa, my Muslim friends!
By popular demand, I have been requested to leave recipes down because people would like to refer to it.
For this recipe, it was inspired by @khairulaming so you can check out his apam balik tutorial for the batter (although I did make a few changes of my own to my batter).
If you’re lazy to search for it, here is the copy pasted recipe (alterations are in brackets):
🧇 2 cups of all purpose-flour
🧇 1/2 cup sugar (I used brown sugar)
🧇 1/2 tsp baking soda
🧇 1 tsp baking powder
🧇 1 egg
🧇 1 1/4 cup of water (I ended up adding double this amount to achieve the same consistency as his batter... so I’d say I added about 2 1/2 cup of water)
🧇 Yellow coloring (didn’t have this and still came out look mighty fine)
🧇 2 tbsp melted butter
🧇 Salt to taste
Toppings:
🍯 Butter
🍯 Sugar (again used brown sugar)
🍯 Crushed peanuts
🍯 Creamed corn
Not sure why even though I followed his recipe super precisely that my batter was pretty thick and I got feedback from others who tried as well that they too had a pretty thick batter but still went ahead to make it and it works just fine too. I guess with the additional water, I was able to make an extra batch!
