Friends have been asking suggestions for community projects they can support. Here are some suggestions which are accessible to everyone, and of organisations I’ve had the privilege to get to know.

If you want to support immediate basic needs, you can support @dignitykitchenhk and @pathfindershk . Dignity Kitchen employs differently-abled people in their restaurant, and they have a feeding program for communities where people need a hot meal. Pathfinders, on the other hand, supports vulnerable migrant women and their children, providing access to immediate care. Furthermore, they are committed to promoting education and awareness in this area.

There are many organisations dedicated to children’s well-being. The @cdchongkong supports children with special education needs, while @oneskyorg in HK specifically serves children in Sham Shui Po.

@bmabhk is committed to promoting early literacy for children, providing better opportunities for children in various communities. @kids4kidshk on the other hand, supports capacity building for youth to be the change makers and impact leaders in society.

For migrants and ethnic minorities, there are some that have been doing so much meaningful work for quite some time already. @enrich_hk supports financial literacy training for domestic workers, and @uplifters.community has a similar goal of promoting empowerment programs. @wedo_global commits to multicultural awareness and intercultural dialogue among ethnicities in Hong Kong (see #WeMaskAction), and @branchesofhopehk does a lot of work to support refugees.

There are so many more causes to support, and do feel free to share your ways of community support this season (and for all year round).

With the CMCO 2.0, I spend more time at home. More time to spring clean, more time to declutter. And every time I look at my wardrobe, I see old clothes that I don’t wear anymore, and clothes that I don’t even remember having. I confess, I may have shopped too much, unnecessarily.

This video I would like to share, how I normally deal with my old clothes, without throwing them to 🗑

Few simple steps 🙂

1. Pick out the old / unworn clothes, as many as possible (with no mercy).
2. Make sure they are all clean and good in condition.
3. Fold and pack them up nicely.
4. Head to the organisations that could put these old clothes to good use!

BLESS Shop is one of them, they resell used clothes. And part of the profit goes to causes, like helping Myanmar refugees and drug rehab centres. They hire single mothers, Orang Asli and ex drug-rehab patients. For more information about them and where they are situated, please visit www.kedaibless.com �
There are 2 others that I know in Klang Valley, which you can donate old clothes to as well.

1. Kloth Cares keeps unwanted fabrics away from landfills and have over 280 bins in various places for different kind of fabric collection - kloth.com.my�

P/S. Great to recycle, but lets also try to reduce! Every time when the urge to shop hits us, please ask ourselves, “Do I really need this? Don’t I already have something similar?” Easier said than done, but lets try, shall we all? ☺️

[SC Ramadhan Fundraiser 2.0]

Good day everyone! After the whopping success of our first Ramadhan fundraiser, we’re now back with Ramadhan Fundraiser 2.0. This time, we will be fundraising for 4 different causes!

We will be helping Kelas Sinar Cemerlang’s students and their families at PPR Kerinchi (which we also helped in an earlier fundraiser last month). _

The funds will also be channeled towards Persatuan Kebajikan Tatwamasi (A group that has been helping families around Senawang and Seremban to obtain essential items) and KAKAK-Refugees (a group that helps refugees for which we will be helping to raise funds for 10 Afghanistan and Somalian refugee families). _

We are also raising funds to help refurbish our beneficiaries' place from our two projects this year - Save School and Stepping Stone Orphanage.

We are sure that together, you and I can raise enough funds to help all of them! Go big or go home! 😉
