Diversity is not a mere catchphrase; rather, it should be an ongoing commitment to inclusion and engagement with contesting voices and experiences different than our own. Some of the most profound moments of my professional growth were encounters with individuals whose path had been very divergent from my own. That is why I stand with the LGBTQ+ community in Taipei and beyond, and encourage everyone to perceive difference as an opportunity for growth, rather than a reason for fear.
