This was during our honeymoon in 2008 when we were staying in Europe but decided to fly to New York, Los Angeles and Las Vegas for a couple trip. Yup, it was just the two of us and no kids then. 想当年, right. Haha.
Although this is just a replica of the Eiffel Tower, we did get engaged on the real Eiffel Tower a year ago so anything that bears this monument holds a special meaning to our love story.
I remember all the fun we had during that memorable holiday, how both of us fell in love with Vegas and promised that we would one day return. Well, things have certainly changed, so have our lifestyles, in the span of a decade and let's just say we prefer going on family holidays for now instead of leaving the kids behind while we travel. That doesn't mean one day we won't, but it just means we choose to patiently wait for the kids to grow up and for that time to return someday.
Perhaps some people might give us advice on how we need to carve out time for couple dates (we've only been on two or three movie dates sans the kids - after they slept - in the last 9 years) or plan for couple holidays so as to reconnect as adults and keep the spark going. I guess it's just a case of different strokes for different folks and there's no right or wrong, good or bad, no matter what we decide to do.
For now, we're just glad we have Netflix and couple movie nights on the couch. P.S. I have no idea how many shows we've watched together already. Too many to count! We just watched Bird Box this week. Anyone saw that too?
P.P.S. Reminder to self. No matter how tough married life gets, never give up on each other. Never walk away. Never forget why you fell in love in the first place.
