I’ve been so fortunate to be best friends with girlfriends who also strongly believe in feminism and equality in terms of opportunities, pay, freedom, etc. Over the years I’ve championed the brand ‘Girlfriends’, I really want us girls to realise the double standard that we impose on ourselves whether we realise it or not.
To my girlfriends, who are in terribly abusive marriages, relationships, may you find the tenacity and courage to walk away from it and get help. Get help for your kids, for yourself.

As the days go by we age,
Don’t let them put you in a cage .
If they don’t let you fly,
Maybe it’s time to say goodbye.

Occasionally a lady will come up to me and tell me how much they miss my 'GIRLFRIENDS' radio show. For so many years women of all ages and background will call me on my show to pour out their feelings, issues, grievances, dilemmas and share their happiness with me. I feel like I have grown up with them as much as these girls feel like they have grown with me too.

Starting this female empowerment program 10 years ago was not just a job for me but it was something I feel so passionately for. I had moments I got called to the office or got flagged on some forums for some topics that I did or even got called out by men for being a feminist.

This radio programme that I produced and presented had made me feel so close to these voices who called me on the radio whom I have never seen. Made me feel so attached to the souls who took their time to bare their souls through their emails and facebook messages. Thank you girls for being part of my life. And I hope that you will always let me in yours.

May we continue our battle to be brave and fight for what we believe in and stop holding back because we fear.
