On Komodo Island, we saw a Manta ray but it was from a distance, so I was truly looking forward to Manta ray snorkelling in Kona, Hawaii.
We arrived, registered ourselves, changed into our @ripcurlMY swimmers and off we went paddling to the dark ocean on our double hull canoe, eager to meet these beautiful gentle giants.
It was a great workout (and being paddle powered is better not just for the environment, but also for the serene underwater creatures too!
.
After 15 minutes or so, we had reached our destination.
We were given another last minute briefing reminder before slowly making our way into the waters with our snorkel (we had floaties on our ankles to ease our buoyancy in the water).
We waited patiently as the tour guide started shining a blue-ish light towards the sea and before long, the rays started swimming right up between the two hulls of our canoe and they came so gracefully… so fearlessly dancing before our very eyes!MashaAllah!
.
I’m glad we went on the @anelakaiadventures tours as they only allow six people on the tour. I saw some other boats on our way back and they had at least 30 pax for each tour!
Being in a smaller group is not just nicer and more relaxed, but the experience allows you to truly enjoy the beautiful wonder of nature … Hawaiian style.
