For classic and old-school dishes, make your way to Mun Thung X Soon Huat 满堂 x 顺發 at Campbell Street, the place dishes out familiar timeless delights like Hainanese Toasts, Stir Fried Vermicelli Noodles, Curry Chicken, Pork Lard Noodles etc. The name of the eatery is Mun Thung whilst Soon Huat is a long-established brand in Penang that sells alcohols and liquors. The young proprietor is combining two brands together by taking up a corner of the place to serve food. The seating arrangement is very simple... with some tables and chairs but the good thing is, the place is equipped with air-conditioners. Pretty straight-forward menu with wallet-friendly prices, a place worth-checking out.

Tom Yum with a booze at the same time? While it certainly does not sound like a good match, this new kid on the block nails it perfectly. Housed in a heritage house along Victoria Street at central Georgetown, Charcoal House gives so much wrong impressions to random passerby. The name is not linked to the interior nor the menu- there is no grills on the menu; step in the place and you will find yourself in a well-spaced bar setting with wood finishing on the ceiling. The interior decor resembles the same tranquility and comfortness, with a sense of sophistication. It is noteworthy that the place adopts non-smoking policy so need not worry on the unpleasant cigarette smoke smell. While Charcoal House has a big drink menu, a Thai Chef is hired to add a little spice to the food menu. The food menu is not big but carries an array of carefully selected Thai dishes at pocket-friendly price tags.

Known to serve some seriously good Coffee in town, Coffee Addict previously from Hutton Lane has relocated to Campbell Street, Georgetown. Housed in one of the heritage houses, the cafe has expanded its menu... from only serving desserts to now, offering a full-fledged food menu. The Western-Fusion menu covers breakfast items, Sandwiches, Salad and Pasta dishes... with standard-cafe price range but definitely heartier portion. The regulars come here to work on their laptops or have a chat... there are comfortable couches and proper tables, to cater for all sorts of needs. While the Coffee is popular, the food offering is equally worth a look over here.
