"Good afternoon, everyone. We are Angel the Great Magician, Ariel the Cute Magician and Asher the Handsome Magician!"
Haha, yup, this was how these three began the magic show which was one of the biggest highlights of the party. Seeing their happy smiles made all those hours of staying up to do the costumes and decorations worthwhile and it's this rewarding feeling that keeps me going party after party.
We kept things simple this time but added a personalised touch including a cake topper which says "The Magic is In You" and a photo of the trio, string decorations which the girls helped to put up, magic related standees like a bunny in a hat, poker cards and three figures to represent the three of them, DIY costumes and a stage backdrop. It probably took us less than two weeks in total to print, cut and stick everything and I was thankful for the extra hands in setting up. Yup, that's the good thing about having more kids!
We were also very thankful to have Ian of @truevinekidsmagic who hopped over to perform a 30-minute close-up magic show just for us. My kids were left in awe, the grandparents were bewildered and I was amazed that we still couldn't figure out how he did those magic tricks despite standing just one-metre in front of us. See my IG highlights.for the videos and stay tuned for more sharing on the blog too. I especially loved it when he made Thanos' infinity gauntlet appear on screen which then magically pulled out a poker card that we chose from a deck of cards. How did that happen??!
We ended off the party with a yummy steamboat followed by a cake cutting ceremony where we finished up every bit of the ice cream cake we bought. The kids continued playing and sharing more magic tricks with each other and we only called it a night past 10:30pm. Fwah, luckily it's the school holidays. Haha.
This is the last party of the year for us, other than Christmas gatherings, and I am just thankful that we pulled it off. December is really a time to celebrate, rejoice and cherish all the good things and loved ones around us. Love you, my dears! ❤

Happy birthday, Ah Gong!
It was my Dad's birthday over the weekend and I initially wanted to treat my parents to a yummy hotpot meal. However, we did a headcount and realised with the three kids, myself and my parents, there would be six of us and we would not be able to sit together, talk or mingle. That would be quite sad, right?
So we decided to dabao dinner and bring a cake over to their home instead. We had roasted duck, frog's legs, chicken in chinese wine, lotus root soup, herbal chicken soup, spinach, prawn omelette - the kids and I picked up the food ourselves to enjoy a discount and save on delivery, woohoo - and I specially ordered a salted egg crab for my parents to enjoy too. Yup, 好温馨又丰富的一餐, and we actually managed to finish everything except for the last few pieces of duck because I ordered a big portion. Haha. We must have been hungry or the food must be really delicious.
My Dad and I then brought the kids to the playground but alas it started to rain after a while so we headed back to watch Man of Steel which was showing on Ch 5 instead. The night ended with a cake cutting ceremony and the kids were excited to present Ah Gong with their handmade cards. Asher drew a rainbow, Ariel drew him rock climbing and told him how proud she is of him, and Angel thanked him for everything he did for us and included a poem too.
Cosy, intimate celebrations with the people you love can feel truly wonderful too. Happy birthday, Daddy, and hope you enjoyed your special day even though it was a simple one. We love you! ❤

Happy turning 7, my dear Ariel!
Yup, we had two parties in two days after returning from our family vacation. That's because the two younger ones are born just two days apart yet I didn't really want to combine their big days into one. I just wanna make them feel special on their big day, you know what I mean?
So the little sister got to invite some of best friends over, including her Primary 1 friends, kindergarten friends and childhood friends and have a cosy party in our humble home. She chose an ice cream theme and we did activities like clay ice cream making contest, achery shooting, tossing colourful pompoms into a cup, and a game of drawing where the kids were tasked to draw snacks, fruits and desserts for their friends to guess.
Of course, our ice cream party ended with an ice cream cake and lots of laughter from the kids. Besides the party favours which included a popsicle mould and ice cream pen, Ariel also gave out a huge ice cream balloon which she had helped to inflate (we blew up, yes blew, 10 of these! 喘!) to her friends to show her gratitude. She was so happy after the party and told me she had a good time and that she would like to thank everyone, including Mama. Awwww.
The best part was hearing fellow parents, who had dropped their kids off at our place for the party, messaging me to convey their thanks and tell me their kids said they had lots of fun and enjoyed themselves tremendously. That makes everything worthwhile, doesn't it?
Happy birthday, my baby girl. You love the sun - look at your tan!, you love outdoors, you love sports, you are adventurous and take risks, you like to try new things, your laughter is infectious, you are sweet and giving to your little brother, you love your big sister despite all the bickers and you are just a gem that is so, so precious in our lives. We love you to the moon and back many times, stay happy, healthy and fun-loving always!
