JPS ART GALLERY　AREA36原宿では、女性アーティストの作品を集めたグループ展「ガールパワー」を開催いたします。現代アートの世界で輝く女性アーティストを称えるための、Afa Annfa、b.wing、SAKI CHIARA、Elaine Chiu、Muu Nanahoshi、Okokme、Pucky、の７人の世界各国のアーティストによる展示会です。

20世紀以降、美術史は常に女性の視点を無視していると批判されてきました。
フェミニスト美術史家のリンダ・ノックリンのエッセイ「なぜ偉大な女性アーティストがいなかったのか」（1971年）では、「無意識のうちに、白人の西洋人男性の視点が美術史家の視点として受け入れられていました。」
と書かれています。

そして今でも、まだアート界の中心は男性で、女性は過小評価されていると考えます。今回の展示会でJPSは偏ったアートの世界とジェンダー平等の重要性を強調したいと思います。

Day 2 : Hiroshima

Popped by Mayflower bar at the hotel lobby for a Gin cocktail by the top bartender in Japan, Tsunoda-san. What a great way to start my evening. If you’re here, do remember to try his award-winning cocktail!

The Hiroshima Okonomi Monogatari Ekimae Hiroba, 5 minutes away from Hiroshima station, is where the Okonomiyaki Street is. You’ll get to watch them prepare the okonomiyaki right infront of you and eat it straight off the Teppan! The Hiroshima-styled okonomiyaki fries a huge amount of cabbages on top of a crepe-like batter, and its topped with lots of green onions. I had mine with seafood and my favourite has got to be the fresh oysters!

We stayed at Hotel Granvia Hiroshima, literally a few steps away from Hiroshima station, the largest station in the west region. It is connected to Osaka, Kyushu(Hakata) and even Shikoku(四国), where all Shinkansen stops. It’s also a base station with many local lines.

We had Japanese breakfast (all ingredients locally sourced in Hiroshima) with a view in the morning! Of course, there’s also options for Japanese/Western buffet breakfast. Hotel Granvia Hiroshima is close to many interesting landmarks, and the size of the rooms are larger than most hotels here in Japan. I would definitely recommend this hotel to all who visit Hiroshima.

*If you didn’t know yet, there’s direct flights from Singapore to Hiroshima and a straight bus from there, all the way to Hiroshima station.

This episode we are exploring the city of Kyoto! I have to say it is the most unique and once in a lifetime experience to be able to shoot in Kyoto without any tourist or even locals.
Last visit to Kyoto I couldn't believe how empty it was, so since I was in Kyoto for work, I really wanted to take a day off to show you all how things look like during the pandemic and how empty the streets are.

This is episode 02 of 'A day of street' series where I bring you all along my day of photography.
