Hideaway beach resorts Maldives

My girls have always loved the beach and every minute of their waking time in Maldives recently was spent doing fun outdoor activities (just look at how tanned they have become now. I almost couldn’t recognize them! 😅)

When I first found out about @clubmedkani’s Happy Children’s Corner where you can drop your kids while you go do your thing, I was like, “Nuh-uh that’s ok, what’s the point of going on holiday with your kids but not spend time with them?”.

I thought it was like babysitting service - you leave your kids there to watch tv, do some colourings and play with toys indoor (you know, all the normal boring stuff), while mommy and daddy go have fun at the beach. But boy, was I wrong! They have all these cool fun activities, coached by dedicated GOs (Gentil Organisateur) that are specially designed for kids 4 years and older; activities that my girls won’t probably get to experience if they just hung out with us!

Besides swimming, they went snorkeling, kayaking, sailing, sandcastle-building, cookie-making, playing various beach games, as well as doing arts & crafts. They also made some new friends from all over the world (Germany, Italy, France, South America, China). It was truly an amazing experience for them and I’m glad they insisted me to join the club (seriously, every time when we were together at breakfast and lunch, they would finish their meals so fast and then ask “can we go now?” for a billion times. Tak sesabo! LOL 😅)

Now I wish other hotels/resorts have similar services, especially in the cities coz my kids tend to get verrryy bored and grumpy whenever mommy goes shopping 🙈

Why visit Fiji when the sky is just as blue in the Maldives, the sea is just as clear in Phuket and the sand is just as white in Bali?

The short answer: Its people.

Everywhere we go in Fiji, the Fijians never fail to greet us with a loud and warm 'BULA!' You know how we can tell when hospitality staff are trying too hard or putting up a fake front when trying to be friendly? The Fijians are nothing like that, or at least we could feel the genuine warmth be it from in the resorts, on the streets or in the villages. In fact, the friendliness was so infectious that the monkies at times started greeting them 'Bula!' first!

As a parent, I was struck by the awesome care shown towards families with kids. The Fijians LOVE children, and play with them as though they have known them for years.

Clearly, the cultural experiences and friendliness of the locals are what stand Fiji apart from the other beach travel destinations.

Perhaps Ale put it the most aptly - "I like the Fiji people because they are so friendly... and they all love to sing!"

Yes, that last bit gets to us emotionally every single time whenever we first step into a resort and leaves one. They burst into a welcome or farewell song depending on the occasion, and that just makes it so hard to say goodbye.
