I’m tired. I’ve been cooped up at home of almost 2 months (no different than anyone else). There’s blame going on between the people and the government. On one side, their oversight in trying to save the economy by letting big business run has caused an uptick in cases that we are unable to surpress. On the other side, we have people who still don’t understand the meaning of staying at home unless it’s necessary. So we keep spreading the virus unnecessarily.
I’m exhausted from reading headlines about the lack of accountability. People are dying in police custody, a teacher jokingly makes a remark about rape, our shortage of doctors are not being looked after, our media contributing to athlete pressure, innocent people fighting for the underprivileged are being charged in court…this list goes on.
I think it goes without saying that this pandemic has exposed systems that were already failing in this country but leadership is about taking accountability for it and wanting to do better. Acknowledgement at its basic form is necessary to create trust. Tell us you’re going to look into it, don’t gaslight us in thinking that we’re crazy because we deserve better!
Parliament is a circus because there are months worth of issues that everyone is trying to get out in the minutes they have on the floor.
People are angry, they’re annoyed, I’m annoyed. The only numbers that I look forward to every morning is our vaccination progress. It gives me some semblance of hope to be able to see my family in Canada or for businesses to open who have severely suffered during this lockdown.
I’m still optimistic and hoping that at some point we will all get on the same page and move forward because Malaysia is a fucking gem. For now, I’ll be cheering for our heroes in Tokyo Olympics, win or lose, nothing is more inspirational than watching someone dedicate themselves to be the best carrying our flag.

[English Club HEC] KỸ NĂNG BẠC TỶ (Series Tôi đã được 9.0 IELTS Writing như thế nào?)
Tác giả: thầy Vũ Hải Đăng IELTS Writing 9.0 - The IELTS A-Team (https://bit.ly/3gKOmXc)
TO A FAULT
Meaning: more than necessary
Keri is generous to a fault.
The journey taxed him heavily.
The journey taxed him heavily.
“in the bag” là gì
The game is in the bag.
“in the books” là gì
Capital punishment is in the books.
“make sport” là gì
Other people made sport of him.

Dan Lok Demonstrates a Jut Sao Drill. Jut Sao is a short sharp deflecting technique used in Jeet Kune Do to deal with punches. The elbow must be kept lower than the wrist in order for Jut Sao to work.
Subscribe to Dan's Channel to learn more Wing Chun or Jeet Kune Do Secrets: http://bit.ly/DanLokSubscribe
Watch the Previous Video that demonstrates the Lap Sao Techniques: https://youtu.be/ad17nEj_TBg
Jut Sao can be used to deflect punches off of the center line. It is useful for mid level to head high straight punches like a boxing jab. It can also through an opponent off balance if they are tense during or after punching. A common mistake when using Jut Sau is to lift the elbow meaning the attack slides under the practitioner's defense
Trapping is not exclusive to JKD, but it certainly isn’t very common in most martial arts.
In case you aren’t familiar with what I’m talking about, trapping is the art of using your arms to nullify one of your opponent’s limbs so that he can’t use it to hit or to block. This allows you to then strike into that open line (that’s a general definition). It’s also called Hand Immobilization Attack (although you can also immobilize other parts of the body, too, using the same concept).
In short, trapping basically means “grabbing to hit”.
One of Dan Lok’s passions in life is martial arts. Like many young kids, after watching a Bruce Lee movie, it changed his life forever. At 17 years old, Dan started training in martial arts seriously because he was being bullied in school. It wasn’t long for Dan to learn the techniques he needed, and gain the confidence necessary to defend himself.
Dan has studied with legendary martial artist such as Bruce Lee’s original student Ted Wong (http://tedwongjkd.net) and Joe Lewis “The Worlds Greatest Fighter” (http://joelewisassociation.com), making him a second generation student of Bruce Lee - in Bruce Lee's authentic art of Jeet Kune Do (JKD). He's also a third generation student of Ip Man (Wing Chun Kung Fu).
Dan has also trained with other great instructors like Sifu Adam Chan (https://www.pragmaticmartialarts.com), Canadian lightweight boxing champion Tony "Fire Kid" Pep (https://www.facebook.com/pepboxing), and Octavio Quintero (https://www.theartofjkd.com)
For Dan, martial arts training permeates every area of life. It’s not a hobby, it’s a way of life, and it influences how he does business.
Martial arts gave him the confidence, focus, and patience to push through these obstacles and to keep fighting when he felt like giving up.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Dan is NOT a full-time martial artist and he doesn't even claim to be that good of a fighter.
He's simply a successful businessman who enjoys the art and philosophy of Bruce Lee, just like you.
He doesn't have any online martial art videos, seminars or expensive "private training" to sell you. Quite frankly, he doesn't need the money.
He simply wants to share his passion for the art of JKD (his own version of Jeet Kune Do) through his YouTube channel.

What is Pak Sao in Bruce Lee's JKD? Translated, pak sao means "slapping hand". However, pak doesn't really slap, at all. In reality, the technique of pak sao involves a great deal of information learned by close attention to details. Be sure, pak and slap do not share the same energies, nor even the same results. You may execute a slap, but not Bruce.
His was pak! Nevertheless, pak sao has still another meaning in wing chun. It's in the nature of the meaning whereby Bruce spoke when he defined Jeet Kune Do as, "pak sao and hip". Pak sao's nature is to intercept.
Thus, the name Jeet Kune Do, The Way of the Intercepting Fist. Actually, there are only three ways to intercept. Ahead of the opponent's beat, at the same time as his beat, or behind his beat. We call this a half-beat ahead, same beat, or half- beat behind.

With Pak Sao, the hand comes directly out of the center of the body to slap away an attacker's strike to one's head. Effective application of Pak Sao involves creating an angle of deflection through which the opponent's blow can be slapped away with minimal effort.
Trapping is not exclusive to JKD, but it certainly isn’t very common in most martial arts.

Osechi-Ryori is traditional Japanese New Year's food eaten during the first three days of the New Year. Each dishes that make up Osechi-Ryori has a special meaning celebrating the New Year (such as good health, fertility, good harvest, happiness, long life, etc...) and those dishes can last for a couple of days in the refrigerator or at cool room temperature in winter. Usually, they are served in Jyubako (重箱: three-tiered bento boxes). In the first tier, we serve colorful festive dishes such as shrimp, black beans, sweet chestnuts, etc... In the second tier we serve Sunomono (pickled dishes) and Yakimono (grilled dishes). And in the third tier, we serve Nimono (simmered dish) called Nishime (simmered Japanese vegetables).
Traditionally, we spend few days to prepare Osechi-Ryori but I always spend few hours to complete mine. I use ready-made dishes for sweet dishes since my darling doesn't eat a lot. I put more effort into cooking the savory dishes.
So, this is my darling's favorite Nishime recipe for the third tier :) I use frozen Japanese vegetables to save time and money. I came up with this idea when I lived in New York, where you can not find ingredients easily. I hope you can make it in your country in this way.
For the seasoning, I used Yamasa's Konbu Tsuyu (3 times concentrated Konbu kelp seaweed soup stock) which is tasty and convenient. I'm sure it is available overseas at Asian grocery stores or online.

Easy Nishime (Simmered Japanese Vegetables)
Difficulty: Easy
Time: 1hour
Number of servings: 5
Necessary Equipment:
1 large deep pot
1 medium pot
1 small pot
1 Otoshi But a (drop-lid - you can also use aluminum foil)
Ingredients:
1 large chicken thigh
250g (8.8oz.) Konnyaku
400g (0.9lb.) 1 bag of frozen Japanese vegetables (includes: taro potatoes, lotus roots, carrots, Shiitake mushrooms, green beans, bamboo shoots, burdock roots)
5 decoratively cut Shiitake mushrooms
1 Yurine (lily bulb)
5 decoratively cut carrots
A
* 3 tbsp. soy sauce
* 1 tbsp. Mirin (sweet Sake)
* 1 tbsp. Sake
* 1 tbsp. sugar
B
* 20ml 3 times concentrated Yamasa's Konbu Tsuyu
* 80ml water
C
* 30ml 3 times concentrated Yamasa's Konbu Tsuyu
* 120ml water
Directions:
1. Thinly slice or decoratively cut Konnyaku, and boil 2-3 minutes to remove bad smell.
2. Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces, parboil to remove the fat, drain, and set aside.
3. Separate the frozen vegetables and keep frozen until just before you use them. NOTE: you don't need to use carrot and Shiitake mushrooms if you prepare decoratively cut ones.
4. In a large deep pot, put Konnyaku, chicken and Shiitake mushrooms. Add enough water to cover the ingredients, bring to a boil, then add A.
5. Cover with Otoshi-Buta (drop-lid - you can also use aluminum foil) and cook on low for 20 minutes.
6. Add lotus roots, bamboo shoots, burdock roots, and simmer uncovered for 15 minutes.

8. In a medium pot, bring C to a boil, add taro potatoes and cook for 5 minutes. Add decoratively cut carrots and cook for another 5 minutes. Add green beans and cook for 2 more minutes.
9. In the third tier of Jyubako (three-tiered bento boxes), nicely arrange 6, 7, and 8 (drain excess liquid).
