“I’m afraid I might annoy them.”
Yes, believe it or not, back when I was a student volunteering at dental conferences, this thought has always kept me shy away from the doctors I look up to.
It was till I decided that it is time to venture out my comfort zone.
That girl back then wouldn’t imagine the fun I had last week, moderating the forum session at @pasadentdotcom ‘s DENTALK event. Being able to connect some of the elites in our field, Dr. @griya.rr , Dr. @nurul____hasan , @drlimtongwah and of course my friend @dr.behweeren , to the young dentists eager to better themselves, is just so enjoyable! ✨
Throughout the past year of relentlessly challenging myself to do things I might not be comfortable with yet are vital for growth, I realised the best way to grow is still connecting with people who are WAY BETTER than you. To be able to do that on a large scale with a big community within my profession at DENTALK, was just amazing for me. 😍
Instead of shying away from better people, I now approach them with the excitement of learning something new. And I think the young generation like us should start putting down the anxiety of “what if they find us annoying”, and start real connections with the people we look up to. For real, there’s a lot of sifus and gurus out there if you’re humble enough to ask questions and be proactive. 🤩
