You’re as Holy as Jesus Himself
“For it is not from man that we draw our life but from God as we are being joined to Jesus, the Anointed One. And now he is our God-given wisdom, our virtue, our holiness, and our redemption. And this fulfills what is written: If anyone boasts, let him only boast in all that the Lord has done!” (1 Corinthians 1:30-31 TPT)
The moment we believed in our hearts and confessed with our mouth for the first time that Jesus is Lord, we were cleansed by His blood and we became holy.
How holy? As holy as Jesus Himself!
If you think you can become holy by your works, then you don’t understand what holiness is.
If you want to go by works-based justification, the moment you even have one un-pardoned sinful thought, you have fallen short of God’s glory and are unholy—you’ve missed the perfect standard which God’s righteousness demands.
Holy is not about sinning less than others. It’s about being perfect and sinless.
And your spirit is totally sinless, righteous and pure. It shared in Jesus’ death at the cross and was raised with Him from the dead, and is now spiritually seated with Him in Heaven at Abba God’s right hand.
Having passed from death into eternal life, your born-again spirit is seated far above sin and all evil.
Christians are not trying to become holy through right living so that they can one day deserve to go to Heaven.
They are already holy, and just need to embrace and walk in that new true identity.
Righteous living is good, and merits eternal rewards before Jesus’ throne in the future, but righteous living is not a pre-cursor to salvation.
Salvation is a gift of Grace, received through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone!
