We’ve moved into Toa Payoh for nearly a year now, and we are so happy we decided on this estate! It took us about 4 months from viewing the resale flat to getting our keys, which is so much faster compared to getting a BTO.

Besides the close proximity to town, there are a lot of good food options in the area. There are also multiple MRT stations in Toa Payoh, a bus interchange, town park, and even a SAFRA clubhouse - which are all very important for us when we were considering this home. We want this to be somewhere we can live for a long time, and make good memories in.

The process of purchasing a BTO or resale flat can be daunting, so if you need some help, you can visit mynicehome.gov.sg to get more information and tips!

In this video, I headed down to SMÖÖbar at Prinsep Street to demolish a 3.5kg version of their newest menu item, Mala Creamy Noodles! SMÖÖbar is a bar that serves affordable drinks and innovative bar food. It also has live performances, sometimes by the owner, Alvin, himself!

The dish consisted of around 2 litres of cream reduced down into a thick and luscious sauce, Mala chilli oil that added a pleasingly numbing aftertaste, freshly cut chillies and crispy bacon bits, all tossed with 15 packets of Maggi Instant noodles.

For a single portion, it was an interesting dish with rich sweetness followed by a tingling spicy numbness after every bite. The intermittent bits of bacon added a satisfying salty crunch to take away from the numbing sensation.

However, with such a massive serving size of cream and numbness, it was truly a calorie-dense and “heavy” dish which was difficult to complete quickly, especially given my poor spice tolerance and the outdoor heat. Despite these unforeseen hurdles, I completed this challenge in under 30 minutes.

In this video, i return to SmooBar to take on a new Mentaiko Platter Challenge!

A year ago i actually did their breakfast platter which is amazing and this year they invite me back to challenge their 3kg Mentaiko Platter.

Platter consist of 4 main items - Mentaiko Pizza, Mentaiko Pasta, Mentaiko Fried Chicken Mantou and Mentaiko Fries!
