I’ve always known Sara as the singer of local band 53A, but I only got to meet her personally when we were both charity ambassadors for Sundown Marathon 2014. Sara started running to lose weight like most people do, but she wanted to tone up so she tried yoga after hearing about it from her friends.
She had been doing HIIT (high intensity interval training) for so long, so she decided to challenge her body to do something different and signed up for the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training course. She did more research on yoga and really, it works out the whole body. It’s not just stretching like what some might think; they don’t realise how much strength and balance it takes to do yoga properly, stretching is just one component.
Sara has never been fat or overweight, but she struggled with the mindset of wanting to be thinner, once idolising pop stars and their figures. Thankfully, she overcame it and focuses on her well-being instead. When she’s not jumping around on stage, she’s teaching yoga.
