'Fast-forward flashback'
While the minutes pass, we go back for hours...
Fast-forward flashback consists of a black square acrylic board with the hour marks of a clock. However, the marks are tubes with electro-luminescent wires that follow the sizes of the famous 12 Chinese pitch pipes arranged together looking like a sun. On the board, it says ‘Kunlun' 崑崙,
a calligraphy painted in white.
The Chinese music system has twelve pitch pipes (shi’er lü 十二律). Legend has it that the Yellow Emperor 黃帝 had a minister, Ling Lun 伶倫, who listened to the song of the phoenix at Mount Kunlun 崑崙. Ling Lun then used the majestic bird’s sounds to conceive the Chinese 12-tone musical system.
In Fast-forward flashback, phoenix tail feathers are the clock hands. They are made from blank aluminium, cut and sanded by hand by the artists. The minutes (tall feather) go clockwise but hours (small feather) go counter-clockwise. The artists designed a fourth gear to reverse the direction of the small feather and then had a clockmaker create it and put it inside a (tower) clockwork. When a feather passes a tube, the tube changes colour and sounds the related pitch.
Although the Fast-forward flashback clock has a 12-hours dial, the two phoenix feathers run on 24-hours clock speed. How time flies and how we cramp two days into one. The hurries and the worries, what urban folly. By adding to the clockwork a ‘fourth gear,’ which makes the small feather run counter-clockwise, going twice as fast forward is going twice as fast backward. When we think about the past, we nevertheless move on, irreversibly widening the distance...

The last day of May, it has been almost a month since the series was released. I would like to thank you guys for watching it. Without you, the series couldn't have been as successful as this. 🔥🖤 #Girlfromnowhere2
.
Today, I want to share something and I hope that this would be an inspiration to a lot of you. ✨ This clip is from when I was casting for the role of “Yuri”. I had to improvise as Yuri was being blackmailed by Nana. She was begging Nana not to release her clip, hence why she became their slave afterwards. But that isn’t what I want to say today.
.
The point is, when I was casting for Yuri, it was just 11 days after my brain surgery. 11 days!! I looked so ordinary there. Actually, I was very worried for my surgery because it has everything to do with my brain and nerves. 🧠 I was so scared that I may not be able to act again after waking up from the surgery. But when I woke up, I was given an opportunity and I didn’t think twice about taking the chance. Even though, I was not so confident, but on the other hand, I believed that I could do it. And I did it! What I want to tell everyone is that if I can do it, anyone can do it too! 💪🏻 Whether you have a health problem or any kinds of problems, don’t give up on what you believe in. Don’t give up on what you want or what you want to be. Don’t let your limitations limit you from your dream. I’m here to cheer you up. 🤗🎉 I wish you all a good June.✨

【Lesson #3 - Talk to your investors】
Many founders spend countless hours of blood, sweat, and tears fundraising. Endless Zoom calls, perpetual follow-ups, coffee chats, check-ins, dinners, networking events, are all examples of this "always be fundraising" mentality commonly held among bootstrapping entrepreneurs. It's a lot of effort, that oftentimes does not carry over post-fundraising. Once they get money in, the communications falter—a grave mistake and wasted resource, according to Hai Ho, the founder/CEO of Triip (AW#18), a blockchain powered travel platform based in VN.
---
What I’ve come to learn is that the strength of your company is very closely tied to the strength of your relationship with your investors and how frequently you interact with them. Oftentimes in the early days of your startup, you tend to shrug off any need for external help. You managed to build up promising initial traction, raise a round or two of financing, hire top notch talent—things are good, why trouble yourself with managing investor relations. “I’ll reach out when there’s a problem” you might think to yourself.
Before, I would probably hold a board meeting once, maybe twice a year depending on everyone’s schedule, strictly for the purposes of corporate governance. I’ve since changed how I communicate with my investors. No matter how busy it gets, I make it an effort to send email updates once a month and have meetings with them twice a quarter.
Looking back on my 13 years of entrepreneurship, I wish I could’ve done this a lot sooner. Your investors collectively boast a wealth of experience, wisdom, and connections. Make sure you take advantage of that. Talk to them, in good times and bad. You’re on a long-term journey together, so the least you can do is put some trust in each other. They can help illuminate your blind spots, while leveling the playing field against competition, but only if you let them.
We often forget that founder-investor relations are still a type of human relationship at the end of the day, which can only be developed through consistent face-to-face interactions (virtual or physical), not just from a couple of WhatsApp messages here and there. Doing so has created a stronger bond and mutual understanding between my board and I, and ultimately allowed for more information flow, both ways. Most of my problems now have become much easier to solve than before.
Right when COVID first hit in early 2020, I was still somewhat optimistic about the fundraising climate and overall travel landscape, in my naivete. But one of our very early investors that I had recently rekindled with through my renewed IR efforts thankfully stepped in with a precautionary outlook, shepherding us through some scenario planning and advising us to cut costs to zero and assume we wouldn’t be able to get new funds in until 2024. His guidance was instrumental in helping us weather this storm so far. It’s been an incredibly tough time for travel companies this year, to say the least. But building this communication flow with my investors and advisors has made it 10x easier, for both tactical and moral support.

The Philadelphia 76ers played such dismal defence against the second-worst team in the NBA that even reformed bad boy Allen Iverson chimed in about the need for practice time.
"Any practice would be good right now," said Iverson, who scored 41 points as the Philadelphia 76ers held off the Washington Wizards 107-102 Friday night. "If we get our chemistry together, we'll be OK."
The Sixers have had very little practice time since the all-star break, which has been especially evident as they try to incorporate Dikembe Mutombo, acquired a week ago from Atlanta.
Mutombo had 16 rebounds and 14 points, including three key free throws in the final minute after Washington tied the game twice in the fourth quarter and closed to 102-100 with 1:19 left.
Coach Larry Brown wasn't too critical of his team, but said he looked forward to four days of practice before Wednesday night's home game against New Jersey.
"Guys have been either sick or hurt," Brown said. "Tomorrow we will walk through some stuff and hopefully iron some things out. I think that it will be helpful for us."
Richard Hamilton scored a career-high 34 points for Washington, which lost its sixth in a row. Mitch Richmond and Courtney Alexander added 17 points each.
The Sixers led by as many as 16 in the third quarter but struggled with poor shooting, bad passes and turnovers.
The crowd turned on the 76ers midway through the fourth, booing as Matt Geiger replaced Mutombo and fouled Christian Laettner, who hit both free throws during a 12-2 run. More boos followed when Hamilton drove for a layup with 8:56 left to tie the game at 86-86, the first time the game was tied since early in the second quarter.
Iverson kept the Sixers in the game, scoring all his team's points for the first seven minutes and making all but one of the Sixers' fourth-quarter field goals. It was Iverson's 15th game this season scoring 40 or more points.
"They shot very well and we made some mistakes down the stretch," said Mutombo, who had three of the team's 14 turnovers. "They had very good views of the basket."
The Wizards closed to 102-100 after a three-pointer by Alexander with 1:50 left.
The Sixers scored nine of their final 14 points on foul shots. Mutombo made one of two free throws with 51 seconds left after Laettner was called for an offensive foul. Mutombo hit both foul shots 15 seconds later after Laettner missed a layup.
"I was proud of the fact that we fought back to put ourselves in a position where we had a chance to win the game," Wizards coach Leonard Hamilton said.
Snow had 15 points and 11 assists, notching his first double-double since returning Feb. 13 from ankle surgery. Snow scored in double figures 11 of 15 games before going on the injured list Dec. 9, but averaged just over five points in the nine games he's been back.

Recapping the month of January in this vlog: we celebrated the 01/01 just the three of us, as a family-- simple & sweet. My heart is full.
January is a time for family and celebrations and I love starting the year on this note. It's a great reminder to me, personally, that family should always come first, above and before anything else.
A highlight is my brother getting his IB results! 43 points, exactly what he was aiming for! I am so proud of him. And then, he enlisted into army a few days after!
We see some busy and hectic weekdays filled with work, events and more, but I'm glad we managed to pull through. I'm a little afraid of how February will pan out especially with the Novel Corona Virus Crisis. It makes us think twice whenever we want to head out (especially with Noah).
Looking back at January helps us to really appreciate those really carefree days. Praying for life to revert to normal soon!
