How to Know your Future
If you keep comparing your life with others, you will be unhappy and dissatisfied because you will always focus on what someone has that you don’t.
Then, if you purposely compare with those who are doing worse than you in certain areas, it just becomes an excuse for you to stop improving, just because you are currently better off than that other person.
How others are doing has generally nothing to do with how your story plays out. There is no point in comparing your unique story with the stories of others.
When God thinks about His covenant people and beloved nation of royal priests (of which you are one), these are the types of thoughts He has:
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says Yahweh, “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11 WEB)
This means that we can confidently expect good things to come in our future.
This truth is constant, no matter what age you are.
You have a good future ahead when you are 18, and you still have a good future ahead when you are 81.
The power for this truth to be realized in your life is if you believe it. Through faith, the Holy Spirit causes you to possess God’s promises tangibly in your life.
Our God is the one who saved the most excellent wine for last at the wedding in Cana by turning water into wine (John 2).
“But the path of the righteous is like the dawning light, that shines more and more until the perfect day.” (Proverbs 4:18 WEB)
His word also promises that the path of the righteous shines more and more until the perfect day. That means that your life will keep on reflecting the glory of Christ increasingly, in every way.
Don’t look to the world or to the people around you to determine what your life will be like. Meditate on God’s promises for your life and see that you have a beautiful life ahead. Expect and declare for good things to happen to you every day!
