分享《The System: Soviet Periodization Adapted for the American Strength Coach》書中的一段話,用簡潔直白的話語,把課表設計中的「科學」與「藝術」說得很清楚了,下面附上原文和我的譯文:
--

Throughout the process, is important to keep in mind that what we do as strength coaches is a combination of science and art. The science demands that we know why something works. That is imperative for the selection process, and if you know how something works, you will know how to progress it.
If you do not know why something works and you choose to use it, maybe you get lucky... and maybe you do not. When you think, “This is great! My athletes are getting better,” you need to ask yourself, “Where do I go from here?” If you do not know why something is working, you will not know how to progress or adapt it for continued gains. That is the importance of the science.
The art of coaching is saying to yourself, “We need to squat; we know that is important.” The question now is, “Should we front squat, back squat, or split-squat? What weight should we start with? How many sets and reps? How can I best teach this movement?”
These questions rarely come with clear, definitive answers, and your path will have to take into account the variables. This is the art of coaching. If you asked these questions of 50 coaches, you might get 50 different answers, and not all of them would be in your best interest to follow.
In the field of strength and conditioning, this is the aspect that takes the most time and commitment to develop and refine. Ultimately, cultivating balance between the art and science of coaching is what separates the elite from the average.

Time to fall in love?
★★★★★★★★★★★★

why is it important to ask questions 在 Cindy Wong 王仙兒 Facebook 的精選貼文
#BREASTFEEDING (BF) - 6 months into motherhood, still one of the most daunting things I’ve faced. Becuz no one can prepare u for what’s to come or how u do it exactly. I’m lucky that my baby can naturally latch on. Here are some common questions that a first time mom/mom to be will always ask about breastfeeding🤱:
Q1️⃣ Is BF painful?
Won’t lie, BF is sometimes painful. There are good days & bad days. Cracks, blisters, bleeding, u name it.
Q2️⃣ When should I breastfeed or use breast pump?
It depends. I found it very time consuming to breastfeed and can’t see how much Amias is drinking, which is very problematic in establishing the feeding schedule. That’s why I do pumping all the time!
🌟P.S. Double pumps save soooo much time! Can’t emphasis how important this is
Q3️⃣How can we have more & quicker milk flow?
Stress can decrease your milk supply! I hired a lactation consultant before - 佢好大力咁幫我通乳,我喊到形容唔到幾痛,加上佢逼我要有一個好嚴格嘅 BF schedule,我同BB都好辛苦,壓力更加影響milk supply🤦🏻♀️
After the confinement lady left, I resorted to pumping exclusively; it helped massively.
💫I produced the constant highest amount of milk
💫The right pump with the right stimulation helps empty the breast, which is key to⬆️milk supply
💫For me, it is really important to know exactly how much milk my son consumes,
Some pumps that are too forceful (有時硬係覺得開大力啲就泵得清) could cause blisters, bleeding too. It happened to me😢 But here, I want to share my experience of using @philipsavent double electric breast pump. One of the key features is its Natural Motion Technology which can stimulate the breast to express milk just like baby’s natural suckling motion. With applying the right amount of nipple stimulation and suction for max the milk flow.
I was quite surprised by the amount it pumped & how gentle it was to the breast/nipple, especially with this soft and adaptive silicone cushion, I didn’t feel any pressure or pain.
BF Mamas, Jia You!💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 It’s a tough job, but there is always a solution, so don’t give up! Sending good vibes!

Description:
Our body always tells us the truth, and our mind, the great trickster, on the contrary, always fools us, controls us, confuses us, play with us. So, it is very important to challenge our thoughts, our beliefs, whether they are serving us or tricking us, whether they are the truth or just some facts.
Why do we believe what we believe? What do you believe about money? Work? Your body? Relationships? Who told us? Is it the truth when everyone is saying "it" to you? That are our questions.
Angela Spaxman, Canadian, a former Forrest Engineer, came to Hong Kong two decades ago, one of most pioneering and respectable Coaches in Hong Kong, now a Senior Personal & Corporate Coach. Being a coach, a trainer, a teacher, we actually really interested in ourselves, in our mindset. Lately, first time in my life, at the age of 50+, I got Eczema 10 times in three months, while Angela got back pain, shoulder pain and legs pain in various times, seriously enough to draw attention to ourselves, our bodies, our believes.
We have to ask ourselves, what is really going on? What are the emotions we haven't expressed? Anger? Guilt? Sadness? What are the real issues? Angela will share her insights on what to believe, and what not; and how she treated her back pain and other pain, without too much drama, and visiting doctors. Also, she shared some very interesting and powerful story, to help us understand the Power of Our Mind. Thanks for watching.

why is it important to ask questions 在 Linora Low Youtube 的最讚貼文
I am 7 weeks out.. like damnnn
How has training been for the past week. So so
For my training. We've now move on into Phase 8. Phase 8 which involves a lot of reps again, I'm meant to fatigue out the muscles and yeah this new program will not have me bored, cause it's a mix of explosive and strength. Note usually one should change up your workout program every 3-4 weeks. Your body adapts and it needs to be challenged.
Today I want to talk about why the right kind of support is so important.
There's a saying repeated by a number of motivational speakers that you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with. There's another video which spoke worlds to me, was by former pro wrestler Marc Mero, and he said show me your friends and i'll show you you're future. I want you to watch the video cause it's so important!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WI0Twlt1aek
You are defined by your choices.
A few days ago I go rather emotional. I think it's normal for any comp prep that you will get emotional cause you are taking yourself through an intense process. Things didn't go as smooth as i'd hoped and small little things would irritate me. My latest results on my physique didn't please me, my weight had gone up a 1 kg since the last time, my fat went up by 0.1% and muscle dropped to 0.1%. Minor I know, but the numbers screwed my head.
I'm very thankful that I was supported by good friends at that time.It makes a world of difference when you have the right kind of support, encouragement from people who have the same mindset or goals or they can relate to your goals.
Your future self is made up of the 5 people you surround yourself with and the things that you do on a daily basis. Choose wisely :)
On a side note, for anyone wondering if i ate all that junk on the table. watch the video!
alright and that wraps up this weeks Vlog, Thank you for watching :) Please do ask questions or give me feedback on how to improve my videos.
Speak to you next week!

Five Ways to Improve Your Listening Skills
Maintain eye contact
It shows others that you are paying attention.
Match their eye contact to not be creepy.
Some people love eye contact. Others prefer to look away from time to time. Depends on the other party
Another way to show that you are listening is to lean in with your ear
Take Notes
This will reinforce your memory. It’s advisable to ask permission first in some situations.
This is good for when you meet someone more successful than you.
Ask: Do you mind if I take notes?
Shows respect and makes them feel valued.
Allow people to finish their own sentences
No matter how enthusiastically you want to jump into the conversation.
Doing so will indicate respect for what the person is saying.
Let them finish their sentence and then ask. Would you like my feedback?
Is what you have to say more important to the person speaking?
Respond so the other person knows you’re listening.
Your response maybe “Yes” or “I see” or merely nodding your head. Any of these will do.
I see where you are coming from
That is profound
I wish I could do what you do
Ask core questions.
That is typically a series of “why” questions that go deeper into a particular subject to gain the greatest understanding of a situation. Start with broad information and continue seeking more specific responses.
Ask core questions – So you don’t get a yes or no answer
Why is that important? How can I help?
What’s preventing you from moving forward?
Asking them profound questions. Questions shift belief/change lives.
These may seem simple but complexity is the enemy of execution. If you think these sound like common sense, first ask yourself “How many people do you know that do all this? How would it transform your life if you did?” If you do it, you will stand out. People will like you but they won’t know why. It’s subconscious.
