在今日熱騰騰出刊的《商業周刊》中,我以三篇共十頁的篇幅介紹了巧克力無限寬廣的世界。三篇主題分別為:

In the latest issue of Business Weekly Taiwan, I introduced to Taiwanese readers a spectacular world of chocolate where chocolatiers and chocolate artists are able to realise their wildest imaginations as well as to share their unique perspectives. This special feature is composed of 3 topics:
- Chocolate sculptures, featuring beautiful chocolate egg creations of the chef Jimmy Mornet (Park Hyatt Paris-Vendome), Jérémy Del Val (DALLOYAU), Nicolas Paciello (Hôtel Barrière Le Fouquet's Paris), and Nicolas Cloiseau (La Maison du Chocolat).
- Vegan chocolates, presenting the wonderful work of Pierre Hermé (Pierre Hermé Paris), Nicolas Cloiseau (La Maison du Chocolat), and Michel Cluizel France.

大家還記得兩個月前在屏東舉辦的世界巧克力大賽(International Chocolate Awards,以下簡稱 ICA)亞太區決賽嗎?在亞太區拿下 13 金 42 銀 32 銅 18 特別獎的台灣品牌,這次在巧克力的故鄉——瓜地馬拉再度大放異彩,屏東的福灣巧克力除了以「台灣一號62%屏東巧克力」獲得三金、其中包括黑巧克力類別的「全球最佳」金獎外,也以台灣鐵觀音茶巧克力 62%、台灣馬告巧克力 62% 在調味巧克力項目拿下兩金,總共獲得 5 金、19 銀、4 銅及特別獎等共 18 項大獎。
從 Yu Chocolatier 畬室 法式巧克力甜點創作 開始,台灣巧克力近年在國際比賽屢得佳績,已經受到世界肯定,不僅能在國際一級舞台上與全球品牌同台競技、還技壓群雄。ICA 主席 Martin Christy 在頒獎人不斷唸出台灣的得獎名單時,戲謔地說了一句:「Too many prizes now! We can’t manage!」(「太多獎了!我們不知道要怎麼辦!」)之外,來自台灣的品牌如拾米屋 Sheme House以「桂花滇紅」、九日風以「在欉紅一號」分別獲得「白巧克力甘納許與松露」類別的金銀獎,同樣來自屏東的 曾志元 Zeng Zhi-yuan也有斬獲。全部得獎名單會在今天倫敦時間 9pm 於 ICA 官網公布。

Do you still remember that two months ago, Taiwan has won 13 Gold, 42 Silver, 32 Bronze medals in the International Chocolate Awards (ICA) Asia Pacific competition? The world final competition has taken place 3 days ago in Antigua, Guatemala and Taiwan has once again outperformed on the world stage. Fu Wan Chocolate’s 62% Taiwan NO.1 Chocolate’s got 3 Gold prizes, including the “best plain/origin dark chocolate bars overall prize”. Their 62% Taiwan Tie-Guan-Yin Tea Chocolate and 62% Taiwan Magao Chocolate also got two Golds in the flavoured dark chocolate bars category. In total, Fu Wan Chocolate has won 5 Gold, 19 Silver, 4 Bronze and special prizes.
Starting from Yu Chocolatier‘a participation in international competitions, Taiwan’s chocolate makers have successfully come under the spotlight on the global stage and created outstanding records. During the award ceremony, Martin Christy, Awards Director and Head of the Grand Jury of the International Chocolate Awards, even made a comment saying that there're “too many awards! We can’t manage!” when the announcer kept calling Taiwanese chocolate makers to come to the stage. The latter also mentioned that the world should “be careful with the Taiwanese. They’re the revolutionaries in Asia.”
Besides Fu Wan, Sheme House and Le Vent et Le Soleil also got the gold and silver prizes in the “white chocolate ganaches and truffles” category with their “Yunnan Milk Tea with Osmanthus Chocolate” and “Redontree No.1” respectively. Chocolate brand Zeng Zhi-yuan from Pingtung, Taiwan got several prizes as well. The final results shall be online on ICA’s website tonight at 9pm London time.

還記得我上個月去拜訪的 COFE 嗎?他們在上週末於屏東舉行的世界巧克力大賽亞太區決選中大放異采,以四支「#喫的台灣茶」#獲得共八項大獎:東方美人(金獎、特別獎)、包種(銀獎、特別獎)、紅玉(銀獎、特別獎)、COFE TEA(銀獎、特別獎) 。COTE bar 的設計是台灣多位不同領域的職人共同努力催生的作品,產品總監顧瑋 Wilma Ku 是已多年耕耘台灣精選農產品,並創立 土生土長 On the Ground、 台灣好食 Taiwan Good Food 等推動在地美好飲食風景的重要人物;研發設計則由知名台灣果醬品牌 在欉紅 red on tree 與巧克力品牌 九日風 的主廚楊豐旭 Danny Yang 擔任(九日風也以新品夾心巧克力獲得二銀一銅);形象設計由知名圖文創作家 米力 操刀、執行顧問則是專業咖啡品牌顧問王詩鈺 Wang Shih Yu。
本次有來自十數國超過 900 件參賽作品,台灣的品牌共獲得 13 金 42 銀 32 銅 18 特別獎,是對台灣精品巧克力的巨大肯定。得獎名單中有許多熟悉面孔,例如知名巧克力主廚黎玉璽 Yu-Hsi Li(@JADE LI Chocolatier)以她的「Pineapple & Pepper」(鳳梨、胡椒)獲得調味黑松露巧克力與甘納許類別的金獎,福灣巧克力 Fu Wan Chocolate 與屏東本土的巧克力師 曾志元 Zeng Zhi-yuan 更囊括多項金獎與銀獎。
獲得金銀銅獎的得主會自動進入世界賽,所以在為台灣的職人鼓掌之餘,也為他們接下來在世界賽的表現加油!

The 2019 Asia-Pacific – Bean-to-Bar and Chocolatier Competition of International Chocolate Awards took place last weekend in PIngdong, the very south end of Taiwan where local chocolate is grown. If you still remember, I have visited a Taiwanese brand COFE that offers edible tea and coffee chocolate bars about a month ago and was impressed by their COTE bars. These characteristic tea bars wins 1 Gold, 3 Silver, and 4 Special Awards in the while chocolate bars category in the competition where some 900 chocolate products from 14 countries entered. This brilliant record is created by COFE’s strong teamwork. The team is composed with some well-recognised Taiwanese professionals such as Wilma Ku, founder “On the Ground” and “Taiwan Good Food” association that promotes local quality produce, Danny Yang, pastry chef and chocolatier of Red on Tree and Le Vent et le Soleil (they’ve won 2 Silver and 1 Bronze for their own chocolate bonbons in the current competition), Milly, the renowned graphic designer and writer, and Wang Shih Yu, professional coffee brand consultant.
More than 900 items from 14 countries entered in the competition. Taiwanese brands have won 13 Gold, 42 Silver, 32 Bronze, and 18 Special Awards in total. Some familiar faces can be found in the list, including renowned chocolatier Jade Li, who got a Gold medal for her Pineapple and Pepper dark chocolate ganache; local dedicating chocolate brands like Fu Wan Chocolate and Zeng Zhiyuan have outstood the crowds, winning a significant number of gold and silver medals.
The Gold, Silver and Bronze winners are eligible to enter the World Final which will take place in Guatemala later this year. Congrats to all the Taiwanese chocolatiers and wish them best luck in winning more awards in the global final!
